  • Patent number: 4446615
Abstract: Apparatus for successively attaching terminals to stripped ends of electric conductors which are delivered from a wire cutting and insulation stripping apparatus to a conductor supply zone in which the conductors are successively picked up by gripping jaws of finger assemblies carried by a conveyor chain and transported to a terminal attaching zone including successive spaced apart first and second terminal attaching devices, each having dies for crimping a terminal end portion to a received end of the conductor, and in which a conductor gripping mechanism in the terminal attaching zone is operatively controlled to axially move the conductor with a terminal attached to one end by the first terminal attaching means in a direction and for a period dependent upon its length to dispose its opposite end in a predetermined position for the attachment of a terminal thereto by the second terminal attaching device.

  • Patent number: 4399400
Abstract: A test system for evaluation of a terminated cable harness examines both the correctness of cable conductor connections and the correctness of the load circuitry to which the conductors are connected. Electrical continuity testing is employed for conductor layout evaluation and transition circuitry is introduced between the continuity tester and the cable to accommodate parametric evaluation of the load circuitry.

  • Patent number: 4257295
Abstract: Apparatus for the high speed automatic cutting of measured lengths of a multiplicity of materials in which the material is guidingly fed from a supply source centrally of a feed path by a pair of adjustable feed rollers driven by a stepping motor that measures the length of material to be cut in terms of the cumulative steps of the stepping motor, and in which a reciprocable cutter knife is actuated in each cutting operation by a controlled single revolution of a connected drive shaft. A presser member supported for movement with the cutter knife engages the material in advance of the cutting blade and holds the material during cutting. The feed rollers are adjustable to a preset operative position and are spring urged to this position, but are arranged for independent manual movement to a wider separation of the rollers than in the preset position. The urging spring is also adjustable to vary its effective urging force.

  • Patent number: 4256427
Abstract: Apparatus for successively receiving and transporting long cut lengths of wire from a wire cutting mechanism and stacking the cut lengths in a receiver, a pair of long looped belts being supported with confronting surface faces coacting to form a longitudinally moving V-trough having an inlet and coupled with the wire delivery end of the cutting mechanism. One of the belts is supported on a fixed frame structure, and the other belt is supported upon a pivoted frame structure, a power actuator being selectively energizable to swing the pivoted frame structure in a direction to separate the converging belts and form an elongate discharge opening along the bottom of the trough through which the delivered cut wire length in the trough may be discharged by gravity into a receiver, and thereafter swing the pivoted frame in an opposite direction to close the discharge opening.

  • Patent number: 4206866
Abstract: Improved apparatus and method for continuously producing high sensitivity magnetochemical particles consisting of joined pairs of pre-oriented magnetic metallic spheres which have been heat treated, magnetically annealed, then plated with color forming metals and overcoated with a chemically resistant coating. These spheres are vibratorially and frictionally seated in surface dimples impressed on the opposed surfaces of a film formed in a mobius loop. The dimples are formed in back-to-back registry by passing the film material through mirror image half-tone screen carrying impressing cylinders. A resin coating applied to the surface of the film loop encases and binds the spheres into mirror image groups; and while the resin coating is still fluid, a directional magnetic field is applied to rotate and orient the encased spheres so that their preferred directions for magnetic field propagation are parallel to the surface of the film loop.
