  • Patent number: 5897464
Abstract: A method and apparatus for exercising the subtalar complex with controlled triplaner motion. The principal embodiment includes a standing platform and handrail in association with a rotatable foot plate. The foot plate is controllable and adjustable in three planes with fixed settings in all planes, including the oblique. The exerciser provides a method for isolating specific muscle groups involved with foot, ankle and calf extensions or where combinations of muscles are used, such as, with dorsiflexion-eversion or plantarflexion-inversion, while preventing tibial rotation of the foot. A second embodiment provides a more portable exercise apparatus utilizing the concepts employed with the principal embodiment wherein a rocker member is provided, attached to a support member. A foot plate attaches to the support member opposite the rocker and is pivotal in the transverse and frontal planes.

  • Patent number: 5619423
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved system, method and apparatus for the external ultrasonic inspection of fluidized tubulars and tanks. The apparatus utilizes couplantless, contactless, computer controlled, Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT) probes for the external, longitudinal, scanning process. Thereby, detecting thin spots and other flaws along the circumferential belts of a pipe or tank without the need to encircle the pipe or tank with an array of transducers. The invention discloses a method of operation whereby the probe detects flaws in welds and the pipe walls by launching and receiving simultaneous ultrasonic signals, circumferentially around a pipe, from the same transducer.

  • Patent number: 5469797
Abstract: This invention is a multi-row full stalk sugar cane planter which utilizes a fully automatic hydraulically driven feed and distribution system to place cane stalks on the field in three or more successive rows including the row directly beneath the planter. A hydraulically driven, continuous chain, feed conveyor moves cane stalks in the semi-vertical position and in multiple columns toward a primary and optional secondary rotating distribution drum system. A pressure compensating proportioning control valve monitors pressure at the primary distribution drum motor and automatically compensates for high pressure spikes by slowing or hesitating the feed of cane stalks to the primary distribution drum. The special valve can be easily adjusted on the fly to compensate for differing field and weather conditions. A series of hydraulic secondary distribution drums are also provided to insure proper planting and placement of the cane stalks in three or more rows.

  • Patent number: 5453030
Abstract: The present invention is an auxiliary steering handle apparatus adaptable to most boat mounted trolling motors. The apparatus is comprised of two main components, the pivotal telescopic handle or lever and a split gear housing or case. The pivotal handle or lever is both rotatable and telescopically extendable. Bevel and pinion gears are provided, with the bevel gear split into two halves for clamp mounting to the rotatable steering column of an existing electric trolling motor. Manual rotation of the handle facilitates rotation of the pinion gear and bevel gear, thus axial rotation of the motor is achieved in a full 360 continuous or by-directional rotation. Electrical commutation located within the case and lever, provides sliding electrical contact between a battery and the electric trolling motor.
