    Abstract: An ink composition is provided which is suitable for use on plastic, bare metal, for example, tinplate or aluminum as well as on such metals having organic coatings applied to surfaces thereof. The inks are suitable for use in contact printers or in jet ink printing techniques and apparatus. The ink compositions are thermotropic, i.e. they change color in the presence of water or steam at elevated temperature and are useful as sterilization or pasteurization indicators. The inks comprise essentially a binder resin component, or mixture of such resin components, an alcohol solvent and a combination of dyes which produce a visible and permanent color change in the presence of water or steam at elevated temperatures.

    Abstract: In the fabrication of a resistance heater for a carton for packaging a pizza, an aluminum metallized sheet is adhered to a paperboard panel, a generally U-shaped strip of arc-sprayed zinc is applied to three edge portions of the upwardly facing electrically conductive metal layer of the metallized sheet, the interconnecting portion of the U-shaped strip and the immediately underlying metal layer are severed, and the metal layer is severed along a line extending adjacent the same interconnecting portion to the side thereof enclosed by the U-shaped strip, so that each of the severed sections of the interconnecting portion serves as a terminal for a corresponding leg portion of the U-shaped strip comprising the electrodes for the intermediate region of the metallized sheet.

    Abstract: A reclosable blister card package comprises a plastic blister having a flanged portion and a raised product holding portion. A paperboard card is releasably affixed to the flanged portion, and a portion of the card is folded over to present a folded edge extending over and engaging the flanged portion of the blister. A pair of parallel creases are provided in the paperboard card, one of which creases is disposed in substantial registry with the folded edge. Construction and arrangement is such that pivotation of the folded portion about the one crease away from the blister is effective to release the overlapped flanged portion from the folded edge and accommodate subsequent release of the card from the blister by pivotation of the card therefrom about the other crease.

    Abstract: A premoistened wiper having high initial wet strength in a wetting liquid, and lower wet strength when immersed in substantially neutral water to allow for flushability. The wiper includes a nonwoven web of fibrous material which is bonded together by a polymeric adhesive binder, with the bonded web being moistened until the time of use by a wetting liquid having an acid pH level which is safe for external use on the human body. The binder is composed of a material which is highly adhesive in an acid pH liquid to bind the fibers of the web together, and which is further resistant to weakening over the relatively long periods of shelf life of the wiper. However, the binder loses its binding strength in substantially neutral or alkaline flush water to allow for flushability. The bonded wiper is maintained with wetting liquid thereon within a moisture sealed container until the time of use, and readily loses strength and disintegrates when disposed of in the substantially neutral water of a sewer system.
