Abstract: A multi-scale shuffle is used in the generation of orthogonal and pseudo-orthogonal codes. A method for generating a family of pseudo-random orthogonal or pseudo-orthogonal code signals, comprises the steps of (1) generating a seed matrix of original dimensions, (2) performing a plurality of expansions on the seed matrix, each successive expansion producing a next generation matrix of larger dimensions, the last of the expansions including replication and shuffling of a parent generation matrix to produce a child generation matrix, and (3) output row of the final matrix as the family code signals. The shuffling may comprise a pseudo-random re-ordering of matrix column indices. The replication and shuffling may comprise forming a child generation matrix by operations that include combining a reproduction of the parent matrix and a shuffled reproduction of the parent matrix.

Abstract: An apparatus for dispersing a substance in a liquid beverage contained in a container includes a receptacle containing the substance formed in the interior of the container and an opening tab attached to the top of the container for bursting the receptacle to disperse the substance and for opening a pour panel in the top of the container so that the liquid beverage can be drunk from the container. The receptacle is formed of a flat sheet of an elastic material that is joined at opposite edges thereof to form a burstable seam. One end of the receptacle is a beak that causes the seam to burst upon engagement with the opening tab.

Abstract: An elongate deformable conduit and method of fabrication thereof adapted for the subterranean conveying of petroleum products and petrochemicals has an inner copper tube to which is bonded an outer layer of flexible polyvinyl chloride up to about one-third inch in radial wall thickness. In a preferred embodiment the polyvinyl chloride contains an ultraviolet stabilizer and is extruded in a wall thickness up to about one-tenth inch about the copper tube, and the copper tube has an outside diameter ranging up to about two inches and is sized to convey heating oil substantially below ground.

Abstract: An apparatus for opening a container and for dispensing a substance in a liquid beverage contained in a container includes a flat portion defining a wedge-shaped cut-out, side portions that extend downwardly from the flat portion, and an opening lever attached to the flat portion. The opening lever may include a receptacle containing the substance to be dispensed, a burstable material covering one end of the opening lever, and a plunger attached at an opposite end of the opening lever. The plunger is pushed to compress the substance and break the burstable material to dispense the substance. Otherwise, the opening lever contains no receptacle and is used simply to open the pour panel formed in the top of the container or a tearable receptacle is attached to an underside of the flat portion at a position corresponding to the cut-out so that the opening lever tears open the receptacle and releases the substance contained therein.

Abstract: An adapter is removably attached with engagement means, such as screws, to an object such as the leg of a piece of furniture, such as a table or chair. The adapter attaches to the furniture leg in such a manner that the screws do not mar the furniture, nor do they require a groove, indentation or recess on the furniture leg for attachment thereto. The adapter is configured so that the distance from the leg to the ground is less than the diameter of the wheel mounted on the adapter. The adapter is also configured so that the leg is laterally displaced from the wheel. The wheel is also swingably retractable so that the furniture can be made stationary without having to remove the adapter.
