  • Patent number: 4686975
Abstract: A supplemental respiratory device is shown that uses electronic components to regulate the flow of a respirable gas to a user, intermittently, on a demmand basis. The present invention, by monitoring small changes in relative airway pressure, caused by the user's inspiratory or expiratory effort, supplies gas only when an inhalation is detected. The present respiratory device can also vary the duration of the gas delivery time to compensate for changes in user breath rate. The invention herein is designed to be compatible with a standard nasal cannula. An electronic apnea detector is shown, and is included in the preferred embodiment of the present invention. In addition, the invention herein, when not used for gas delivery purposes, can be used as a diagnostic device for providing information concerning a user's breathing pattern.

  • Patent number: 4672515
Abstract: The present invention consists of a device that provides for easy adjustment of the direction of illumination produced by a utility light through a multiplicity of orientations from one attachment position. The device herein uses a metal track attached to the utility light, which track passes through a clamp and wherein the clamp can be releasably attached to various points along the track. Thus, by movement of the clamp along the track, the direction of illumination produced by the utility light can be adjusted. In addition, the device herein includes a magnet connected to the clamp for mounting of the utility light on suitable ferrous-metal support objects. Engagement and disengagement of the clamp from the track is accomplished by rotating the magnet.

  • Patent number: 4633879
Abstract: An electrode for epidermical use for stimulation, iontophoresis, monitoring and grounding electrical contact applications to the skin may be provided having a self-adhesive, disposable, skin interface portion and a non-disposable backer portion, which is easily strippable from the skin interface portion; whereof the interface portion may be a cohesive and electrically conductive material having adhesive properties and the backer portion may be a durable, flexible and resilient material to which the interface portion may normally be adhered and through which an electrical connection may be made to the interface portion, the backer portion and interface portion being cleanly strippable from one another after use.

  • Patent number: 4633814
Abstract: A calf feeder device adapted to float in a pail or the like of cow's milk, liquid feed, milk supplement or milk replacer. The calf feeder floats partially submerged in the milk with the nipple projecting generally upwardly and continuously filled with milk. Accordingly, a calf confronting such pail of feed may select between sucking the nipple or drinking the milk alongside the nipple and above the partially submerged floating calf feeder. Through the use of the floating calf feeder, a calf may be fed liquid feed supplement a short time after birth and after ingesting sufficient colostrum which is contained in its mother's milk through the natural process of sucking its mother's nipple or teat.

  • Patent number: 4549012
Abstract: A new class of compounds, perfluoroacyl modified cellulose acetate polymers, has been synthesized. A novel method of preparation of these compounds is shown. It was discovered that these polymers can be used to form membranes having superior characteristics. The perfluoroacyl modification allows these polymers to be cast as ultrathin membranes resulting in improved gas flux rates while maintaining a high degree of selectivity, improved resistance to water, and the elimination of post treatment procedures. Furthermore these polymers can be spun as hollow fibers.

  • Patent number: 4545425
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for mounting an outer jacket (4) on a roller-shaped body (1, 2, 3) for forming an annular space (5) between the outer jacket (4) and the roller-shaped body (1, 2, 3). The basis of the present invention resides in the task of simplifying, to as high a degree as possible, the prior art devices of this type, and, as far as is possible, obviating or at least reducing the inconveniences inherent therein. This task is solved according to the present invention, in that the device is provided with at least one slotted ring (19) at each end of the outer jacket (4) and the roller-shaped body (1, 2, 3) in the space (5) therebetween, the ring (19) having at least one inclined surface (20) for cooperation with an inclined surface (10) on the jacket (4) or the body (1, 2, 3) for radial movement of the ring (19) on actuation thereof into the space by means of adjustment screws (22) in a nut (11) which is secured against axial movement.

  • Patent number: 4529085
Abstract: A grain handling device for the receiving and transporting of grain and the like with the primary aspects of this invention being related to ground level receiving of such grain from a carrier, such as a truck, holding and controlling such grain and transporting such grain to a storage bin, typically at an elevation higher than that of the grain delivery carrier. The primary aspects of this invention are the positive control of the grain received from the truck into the grain receiving bin through the use of a valve disposed in the grain bin at the outlet thereof for control of the rate of flow of the grain from the grain holding bin into a grain transport. The valve is configured in a unique way to cooperate with sloping bin walls and the bin outlet to substantially seal such outlet in the valve closed position and to prevent bridging of grain within the grain receiving bin, thereby eliminating plugging at the grain bin outlet.
