    Abstract: A system and method for centralized security screening of packages including baggage. The system creates images and data concerning baggage to be reviewed, packetizes the data long with additional identification information, and conveys the data packets to a central screening location. All analysis of the baggage information is accomplished in a centralized way with risk assessments being provided to each image. Upon sensing of a package or baggage of concern, alerts may be sent to the screening location for action. Artificial intelligence tools are used to pre-screen images to assist with workload assignment.

    Abstract: Sequential GPS Doppler carrier phase count measurements are used for precision sequential determination of position and velocity of a GPS receiver, such as for orbit determination and geolocation, with minimum throughput time. Real-time orbit determination and geolocation performance is enabled with an optimal sequential filter, and near-real-time performance is enabled with an optimal fixed-lag smoother. Many problems associated with prior art orbit determination are eliminated by addressing the “cycle slip” problem, the unknown initial range problem with RANGECP measurement representations, the problem of serial correlation in the measurements due to reprocessing of overlapping thermal noise. Also, the present invention significantly attenuates the carrier signal phase variation due to rotation of receiver antenna relative to transmitter antenna because the sequential phase count time intervals are sufficiently short.

The blocking response is transmitted to the targeted mobile terminal to block communications between the targeted mobile terminal and the base station using the minimum power needed to effectively block the terminal signal so as to limit interference with non-targeted mobile terminals.

    Abstract: A method for proving the validity of a record digitally signed by a user having a digital certificate issued by a certification authority within a hierarchy of certification authorities. The user signs the record, and obtains the digital certificates and certificate revocation information for all the certification authorities in the chain of the hierarchy extending from the user to the root certification authority. A timestamp is applied to the record, the digital certificates and the certificate revocation information to establish a point in time in which all items were created, current and valid. If, at some later point, one or more of the digital certificates either expire or are revoked, the timestamp serves as evidence of the integrity of the signed record.

The biosensor makes use of non-living biological or biochemical sensor molecules for detecting and classifying chemicals, poisons, particles, vira, and bacteria in fluids. In a preferred embodiment, the bioreceptor comprises sensor molecules packaged in a collection device and treated to evoke an optical response to the presence of harmful agents, allowing for photocell detection and signal processing. The sensor molecules are selected from the group of biological molecules consisting of aptamers, single-chain nucleic acids, double-chain nucleic acids, hybridized chemicals incorporating these molecules and combinations thereof that bind with harmful agents. The harmful agents can also be collected in this manner for further analysis, and antibodies produced by the apparatus.

The pump has an extended tube having an intake at a first end and an outlet at a second end. A ribbon formed of helical coils is mounted in the tube for rotation and the frequency of the coils decreases from the first end to the second end of the tube. Substantially incompressible fluid is collected at the first end, an axial component of velocity is increased via the rotating ribbon, and the substantially incompressible fluid is ejected from the second end to provide pumping of the liquid. Additional fluid is added to an interior portion of the pump, preferably to a low pressure region, for various purposes such as mixing, cavitation prevention, increased throughput, etc.

A thwarting signal comprising invisible light frequencies may be combined to produce a thwarting signal that is received by the CCD of an imaging device as white light thereby rendering the recorded image unusable.

The shank includes a plurality of holes in each end and the bezel is attached to the shank with bars or wires that are inserted through one end of the shank, through the ferrules and through the other end of the shank and secured with retainers.

The advertising message can include an offer to purchase a product or service. The offer can be taken during the advertising period and recorded so as to be sent to a sponsor.

In order to speed up the system and to accomplish load balancing, multiple IBSP server computers may be present in the system, although they are not necessarily required.

    Abstract: A memory configuration scheme that enables parallel decoding of a single block of turbo-encoded data is described. In this scheme a single code block is divided into multiple subblocks and decoding is performed on subblocks in parallel. The turbo decoder memory is configured so that subblock decoders can access the common memory resources independently of each other. This scheme is different from existing parallel decoding schemes in that it achieves the parallel implementation by applying multiple decoders to a single code block, not by assigning multiple decoders to multiple code blocks. The advantages of this scheme include minimum memory requirement and minimum decoding latency. The minimum memory requirement results from the fact that it needs memory resources only for a single code block regardless of the number of decoders used. The decoding latency is minimum since decoding of a code block is over when decoding on subblocks is completed.

    Abstract: A system and method for enhancing the security of containers and the goods within them and for tracking a shipping container from its origin to its destination. A shipping container uses a breach containment system comprising a transmitter, a receiver, a processor, a status record and a plurality of conductors to detect any breach of the shipping container structure. The conductors are embedded in, or applied to, the structures that form the shipping container and are connected a processor. The processor maintains a local timer. Upon the sealing of the shipping container, the conductors form circuits and the local timer contributes a time value to the status record. An open circuit condition experienced by circuits formed by the conductors causes the local timer to be reset and status record to be revised to reflect the revised time value. A monitoring station maintains a master timer that is synchronized with the local timer when the shipping container is sealed.
