    Abstract: A technique for controlling a transmitter apparatus is useful for reducing power consumption, and may be particularly applicable to portable apparatuses such as mobile transceivers which employ a battery power supply. According to an exemplary embodiment, the transmitter apparatus includes a power amplifier for amplifying a transmission signal. A processor controls the power amplifier based on a type of digital modulation associated with the transmission signal.
