Abstract: A slingshot body for use with an elastic member in slinging a projectile. A fork portion to which the elastic member is to be attached and a gripping portion to be grasped by a user of the slingshot body are provided. Mounting apparatus pivotally connects the fork portion and the gripping portion to one another to allow movement of the gripping portion within the user's hand. The mounting apparatus including a connecting portion for connecting the fork portion and the gripping portion to one another by a predetermined distance sufficient to overcome friction forces created when drawing the elastic member to a shooting position.
Abstract: The portable device (10) is used for determining horizontal and vertical positions. It includes a pressure sensor altimeter (15) calibrated to a predetermined initial altitude, a GPS signal receiver (12) arranged to receive, via an antenna (11), signals originating from several satellites (20) in order to calculate position data of the device, a processing unit (14) receiving the position data from the receiver (12) and an altitude value from the altimeter (15), and display means (16) for the horizontal and vertical positions of the device processed and provided by the processing unit. The processing unit sends the GPS receiver a signal corresponding to the altitude value of the calibrated altimeter to enable the receiver to determine, using the altitude value, the position data of the device. A memory (13) including cartographic data and associated with the GPS receiver (12) can provide the precise data to the processing unit (14) in particular for calibrating the altimeter.
Abstract: The invention concerns a battery including a metallic container (1) delimiting a cavity (16) containing an electrolyte and a composite strip (2) formed by a first metallic sheet coated with a material forming the positive electrode, by a second metallic strip coated with a material forming the negative electrode and by porous insulating separators, composite strip (2) being wound onto a core (20) located at the centre of the cavity (16) and electrodes being connected by connecting means (8, 9) to external terminals (6, 7). It is characterized in that all or part of the central core (20) is made of a material with a high heat transmission coefficient in heat contact with at least the metallic closing cap (3).
Abstract: A radio telecommunications network for providing group extension phone service to a plurality of subscribers utilizing standard wireline telephones is disclosed. The network comprises a gateway mobile switching center (G-MSC) connected to an external communication network, a home location register (HLR) which includes a database of directory number (DN) categories, a serving mobile switching center/visited location register (MSC/VLR) which includes a plurality of cellular trunks in a pool configuration, a base station connected to the serving MSC/VLR, and a multi-line terminal (MLT) for connecting the plurality of standard wireline telephones to the base station. The MLT includes a cellular side for establishing a radio link to the base station, an office side for establishing wireline connections to the plurality of standard wireline telephones, and an interface between the cellular side and the office side.
