  • Patent number: 6109766
Abstract: A lighting device comprising one or more light sources placed in respect to a concentrating concave or echelon main reflector, with the light emitted by the light source(s) being reflected by the main reflector so as to create a projected pattern of light to be directed onto a subject to be illuminated, a focusable light being achieved by shifting means capable of displacing or tilting the light source(s) with regard to the optical axis of the reflector. Said shifting means are apt to displace said at least one light source in a direction or at an angle to and from said optical axis of said reflector, in a plane substantially perpendicular to said axis, or to tilt the at least one light source(s). The light source(s) is(are) placed around said optical axis of the reflector and are movable or inclinable in a direction away from the optical axis of said reflector.

  • Patent number: 6111988
Abstract: A method is provided for the fractal representation of data in which a representative continuous n-dimensional surface is defined as a first approximation to the original data. Residual data is formed from the date and the n-dimensional surface, and is then divided into a first number of regions. For each of the first number of regions, the following steps are performed: A number of domain regions are determined from the data; for a current one of each of the domain regions, a second representative n-dimensional surface is formed from the current domain; a (domain residual is formed from the current domain region; and the second representative n-dimensional surface, and a closest distance or error measure is determined. After processing each of the regions, the representation of data is stored.

  • Patent number: 6109918
Abstract: A dental apparatus or instrument includes a hollow, tubular metal handle, closing members fastened to opposite open ends of the handle, and tool parts connected to the closing members. The metal handle includes a central substantially smooth region and two surface contoured regions adjacent to the closing members. The surface contoured regions include wide grooves in a criss-crossed pattern superimposed on V-shaped narrow grooves in a criss-crossed helical pattern. The combination of the two type grooves gives a sure grip feel to the two surface contoured regions. The closing members each include an attachment portion which tightly interfits into an open end of the handle and which is brazed into the handle.

  • Patent number: 6109441
Abstract: Two similar urinals are nested in a package so that both urinals occupy a volume less than twice the volume occupied by one of the urinals. Each urinal has a body having a lower wall, an upper mouth, a front wall having an upper portion and a lower portion, and a back wall defining a tangent plane. The upper mouth has a margin defining a plane meeting the tangent plane defined by the back wall at an acute angle. Each urinal fits between an upper plane and a lower plane, each meeting the plane tangent defined by the back wall of said urinal at a right angle. Each urinal has a handle unitary with the body of said urinal and projecting from the body of said urinal, near the upper mouth of the body of said urinal, toward the lower portion of the front wall of the body of said urinal, so as to define a gap between the handle and the upper portion of the front wall of said urinal.

  • Patent number: 6106297
Abstract: A manager system provides a set of integrated tools designed to assist in all stages of the military engagement training cycle: exercise creation, monitoring, and review. All information created or gathered at each stage is automatically made available to the next training stage. It can be distributed on the World-Wide Web, or can be viewed using a Web browser. The manager system uses the protocols established by the Distributed Interactive Simulation Standard (DIS) to both send and receive information from other DIS applications in order to perform each training stage. This allows the manager system to simultaneously monitor multiple dissimilar DIS training simulators during a joint exercise.

  • Patent number: 6105592
Abstract: An apparatus for processing a semiconductor wafer is set forth. The apparatus comprises a processing bowl that defines a processing chamber. The bowl has an opening through which wafers may be placed in the apparatus. A wafer support structure adapted to support at least one wafer is mounted for rotation within the processing chamber. A motor drive assembly is connected to rotate the wafer support structure. At least one fluid nozzle accepts processing fluid and sprays the processing fluid on the one or more wafers carried by the wafer support structure. A door is used to seal the opening of the processing bowl. The door has an opening that is open to ambient atmosphere to facilitate passage of ambient gas into the processing chamber. An ambient gas intake assembly is disposed in the door.

  • Patent number: 6107715
Abstract: A spring system for a vibration driver provides a non-linear stiffening reaction force as the deflection of the spring system increases. In a vibration driver, particularly an electromagnetic vibration driver, a reciprocating plate provides opposing bumpers which engage opposing elastomer blocks alternately during the stroke of the plate. Elastomer blocks include on three or four sides an elastomer impregnated fabric. The fabric controls the bulging of the elastomer block during impact by the bumper, substantially changing the spring rate of the elastomer block, to increase the resonant frequency of the spring system as the machine stroke increases. Increasing resonant frequency controls the stroke amplitude of the plate for a consistent feed rate of resonant tuned vibratory material handling equipment.

  • Patent number: 6102195
Abstract: An improved enclosed belt conveyor system for transferring material with a minimum of dust and energy consumption. An alignment device having an external adjustment mechanism to adjust dynamically balanced spools, which are mounted on a shaft is terminated in the alignment devices. The belts for the conveyed material are in an enclosed structure while the bearings and the bearing adjustment mechanisms are external of the enclosed structure, which encloses the spools and the belts thereby limiting the debris or dust to which bearings are subjected. The balanced flared spools have closed and sealed ends, thereby totally eliminating air turbulence, within the structure. Turbulence will accentuate dust movement within the enclosure. This invention permits the alignment of each individual roller while maintaining the cones of the spools and bearings in a dust free environment as possible.

  • Patent number: 6099712
Abstract: A semiconductor plating bowl which includes a shield on a consumable anode. The shield is preferably made from a dielectric material, such as a plastic. The shield is placed in the area upon which flowing plating fluid would otherwise impinge upon the processing workpiece. The shield has the surprising benefit of reducing the amount of organic additives consumed in the plating process. This is believed to occur because films that otherwise may form on the anode are not disrupted by the flow of plating liquids thereover.
