Patent number: 6787036Abstract: Oxygen depleted wastewater is introduced as a stream into the top of a vessel containing a set of perforated triangular vanes arranged to rotate about a vertical axis. The stream is directed downwardly in the vessel along a path that traverses the path of the rotating vanes so the vanes impact the stream. The force of the impact of the vanes against the stream and the perforations in the vanes cooperate to create a fine droplet mist in the vessel. Atmospheric air drawn into the vessel is mixed and entrained in the mist so that when the mist coalesces, micro-fine size air bubbles are formed. The triangular vanes further provide a pumping action to expel a now aerated stream of wastewater from adjacent the bottom of the vessel.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2003Date of Patent: September 7, 2004Assignee: FBC Technologies, Inc.Inventor: David G. Patent number: 6652165Abstract: A damping system for an electromagnetically operable shutter includes a detent for arresting the motion of a pivotally supported shutter actuating drive arm. The detent has damper portions that are fixed to the pivotally supported drive arm and bumper portions that are fixed t positions to receive the impact of the dampers as the arm is pivoted in one direction or another to operate the shutter. The damper portions each has a straight edge and the surface of each bumper portion is curved so as to maintain substantially a point contact between the two throughout the duration of the impact. In addition the damper portions are formed of a damped polyurethane and each bumper portion is formed of an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, the combination of materials providing energy absorption while avoiding the adherence of damper and bumper portions upon impact.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2002Date of Patent: November 25, 2003Assignee: VA, Inc.Inventors: Stephen Pasquarella, Christopher Akuncius, Helen Yan

Patent number: 6585078Abstract: An insert assembly for a muffler of a high-performance motor cycle, having an insert with a filling of compressed heat-resistant, sound-absorbing material mounted on a removable hollow tube having an inside diameter greater than the outside diameter of the perforated core of the muffler. The filling includes a bulked-up continuous filamentary material. Once the insert has been introduced into the muffler by sliding the tube along the core, the tube is then withdrawn leaving the insert behind in the muffler. Removal of the tube allows the filling to relax towards its intended density. The first subsequent exposure to hot exhaust gases causes certain portions of the insert to degrade, allowing further relaxation of the filling to assume its intended density. Further, the tube precludes potential damage to the insert during its introduction into the muffler.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2000Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Race Tools, Inc.Inventors: Morgan M. Patent number: 6555359Abstract: A method and apparatus for anaerobic treatment of organic wastes in a liquid filled vessel wherein particles of the waste are buoyed and form a floating bed in the liquid by the gasses generated by the anaerobic digestion of the wastes. The bed forms to an upper stratum of the least digested, least dense waste and a lower stratum of the most digested, most dense waste. Liquid from beneath the bed is continuously sprayed over the upper surface of the bed through a series of discharge ports which expands to bed downwardly. Each spraying period is followed by a quiescent period to allow the bed to reform. Over time the floating bed is moved from an inlet end to an outlet end of the vessel where the most digested waste is removed.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2001Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Anaerobics, Inc.Inventor: Robert J.
