  • Patent number: 6413195
Abstract: A passive/active hydraulic exercise device having a base portion, an upright support and a pivot bard is selectively placed in either a passive push and pull type resistance mode or an active velocity type mode. In the passive mode, a pump can be off or on during “idling”. A solenoid valve is energized to an open position, and a servo valve sets a resistance for the fluid flow in the system. A check valve compensates for the differential areas of the cylinder. The active mode is useful for physical therapy applications. In this mode, a constant cycling operation is provided at absolute minimum force levels. The load cell senses the actual force generated, and the position feedback senses actual movement of the exercise bar. As long as the subject is providing enough force to move the bar, the feedback device confirms movement to the computer which adjusts the resistance of the electronic pressure control valve to a value which will allow the subject to continue moving the bar.

  • Patent number: 6386504
Abstract: A variable size food molding tray apparatus is disclosed, having at least two flat base portions of uniform thickness, with selected sizes in length and width. Multiple frame portions each having a groove along the inner and outer side receive the outer perimeter of the selected flat base portion. Multiple latches are positioned in spaced relation on the second end of the frame portions. The multiple catches are aligned with a movable latch positioned on the top side of the first end of each adjacent frame portion, to releasably secure the frame portions about the selected flat base portion, to form an open topped enclosure there-between. The open topped enclosure receives the food ingredients to be molded, and once the food has set, the multiple frame portions are removed, for ease of cutting the molded food into segments.

  • Patent number: 5025969
Abstract: A dual actuation staple insertion apparatus, for sequentially inserting a plurality of staples through a selected material, into the ground when actuated by a downward force from an operator upon opposing handles, foot actuation member or both. The apparatus comprises a housing with a bottom, sides and a top forming a chamber therebetween, with open end portions. A tubular member is secured to the housing, and a drive means is slidably received in the tubular member. A biasing member is disposed upon the drive means above the tubing, and acts against a stop to raise the drive means to an upper operating position. A staple advancing means urges the plurality of staples into position beneath the drive means, in preparation for the next staple insertion.
