  • Patent number: 4883012
Abstract: A recreational water craft useable as a vehicle and as a swimming facility has first and second floatable components, the first having a deck supported by a pair of compartmented pontoons. The compartments have water and air inlet and discharge facilities and are adapted for flooding and blowing by connection with a control system that includes a pressurized air source and valves for pressurizing and bleeding air from the compartments so as to move the first component between a first position with the deck above water and a second position with the deck submerged. The second floatable component has a main floatable section with an annular pontoon that rests on the deck during the vehicle mode of use as when the first component is at the first position. The pontoon has a vertical opening and which surrounds the deck passenger area. A floatable aft section is pivotally connected to the main section and provides a mounting place for an outboard motor.

  • Patent number: PP6042
Abstract: A new sterile plant variety has many of the characteristics of the `Lavender Doll` variety and in comparison to this variety has about the same growth rate, tendency to branch when pruned, and specimen size at maturity. It has a greater natural tendency to branch without pruning, a much greater tendency to form more compact specimens with a more upright and erect posture at maturity and the phylloclades are usually shorter in length and narrower in width. The new variety has a greater resistance to nutrient deficiencies and known problem diseases of the related varieties and it is more resistant to bud abscission and provided with a greater tendency to form multiple buds on the branch tips. It has a habit of producing more blooms with about the same bloom life as that of the `Lavender Doll` variety but at a noticeably earlier date in the blooming season.

  • Patent number: PP6046
Abstract: A new plant variety which is sterile and produces a light or pastel salmon colored bloom, in comparison to the `Christmas Cheer` variety has a faster growth rate, larger specimens at comparable stages of maturity and a more upright posture and compact appearance as evidenced by more erect stems and heavier branching with or without inducement by pruning. The new variety has a greater resistance to stem breakage and longer and wider phylloclades when the `Christmas Cheer` variety. It also has a greater resistance to nutrient deficiencies and known problem diseases of the related varieties. It has a greater tendency for multiple bud formations and a greater resistance to bud abscission than the `Christmas Cheer` variety. It also has a habit or producing more blooms that have longer tepals than those of the `Christmas Cheer` variety and a longer bloom life.

  • Patent number: PP6212
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Euyphorbia plant of the milii group has a very compacy habit with short internodes and very frequent branching that is productive of clavate branches which at the nodes bear persistent long acicular stipular spines. The leaves are oblanceolate to obovate and the plant develops pseudobracts as opposite to subopposite pairs on leafy stems and branches and which subtend a developing leafy branch and/or cyathial branch. The blades of the pseudobracts are usually variegated and have a basic field which in color is usually dominated by a red, purplish red and/or purplish pink hue. The basic field usually has streaks and/or blotches which vary in pattern and size and which in color are usually dominated by a yellow green hue. The inflorescence rarely exceeds three tiers of cyathia and the bract blades of the cyathia are in color dominated by a red and/or purplish red hue.

  • Patent number: PP6979
Abstract: A new plant variety of the Bromeliaceae family was developed as an inter-specific cross between Aechmea dichlamydea Baker var. trinitensis L. B. Smith and A. fasciata (Lindley) Baker var. fasciata and generally resembles the parent varieties but has leaves that lack the bars of the var. fasciata and have leaf sheaths that are wider, the scape bracts being less compactly positioned than those of the var. fasciata thus providing a more open inflorescence while the sepals exceed the floral bracts and provide a more attractive inflorescence. In contract to the var. trinitensis the leaf scales are whitish and translucent and the spiked are polystichously flowered instead of distichously flowered.
