Abstract: A driving device for initiating and maintaining a spinning top in a continuous movement of rotation and precession. The driving device is made of a shaft adapted to axially rotate in a tube on which is concentrically fixed a rim. A top is hingely connected by its central post to the end of the shaft adjacent the rim. The post is able to rotate around the rim through a ball-bearing joint and the friction between the post and the rim causes the top to spin around the rim. By momentarily braking or changing the direction of the shaft with a manual contact on the shaft, it is possible to create a precession movement to the spinning top which will raise above the rim.
Abstract: A ski spur made of a supporting block and a horseshoe-shaped member axially supported by the block between a horizontal and a vertical position. A locking rod excentric to the axle extends between the legs of the horseshoe-shaped member of the latter and acts as a stopper on the block in both vertical and horizontal positions. The axle is preferably mounted in a substantially vertical slot provided in the block and is resiliently urged toward the ski.
Abstract: A locking device for double sliding doors or windows consisting of at least two separable and superposed plates to be located between the adjacent vertical jambs of the exterior and interior doors. The plates have a shank and two oppositely directed tongues at each end of the shank. The plates are thin enough to be separately introduced edgewise between the adjacent jambs and rotated flatwise one over the other. The space between the tongues is determined to abut against the adjacent jambs. All the plates are fastened together to prevent them from being rotated edgewise and removed from between the jambs.
Abstract: A stair supporting frame made of a pair of stringers and a set of triangular blocks slidingly fitted in a groove provided in upper surface of the stringer. The groove has a uniform width defined by parallel sidewalls and the width of the blocks corresponds to the width of the groove. The blocks can slide into and along the groove. The degree of penetration of the blocks in the groove does not affect the outer appearance of the blocks relative to the stringer.
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting faulty power line insulators of the suspension type on an energized power line by comparing two adjacently mounted insulators in series. The apparatus is generally made like a three-prong fork. Each prong has a metal tip forming a probe adapted to conductingly straddle two adjacently mounted insulators. The lateral prongs are each connected to the central prong through a high voltage resistor and an ammeter. Comparison of the amperages registered by both ammeters indicates the existence of a faulty insulator.
Abstract: A vehicle hoist having four separate pivoting shafts. Each shaft is pivotally and slidingly mounted at its lower end on a transversal cylindrical beam which is fixed on a frame. The shaft is adapted to move between a horizontal and a vertical position. The frame is fixed on a base structure and adapted to longitudinally slide on it. The top of each shaft is pivotally connected to an anchoring member which is adapted to grip the rocker panel pinchwelds of the vehicle. When the vehicle is pulled horizontally, the four shafts gripping the vehicle, raise the latter. Abutting components stop and hold the shafts in their upright position. The transversal and longitudinal movements are provided to adjust to the width and the length of the different types of vehicles.
Abstract: This invention consists of a container inside which potatoes or other vegetables or food may be kept until eaten within a short term. This parallelepiped-shaped container is a one-piece device provided with three different openings: there is one on the upper part of the container, one on the front part and a third one on the lower part. The three openings are themselves provided with three identical covers. The appropriate shape of the container provides a good rotation and ventilation of vegetables. Also, a plastic screen situated on the lower part of the container permits the filtration of vegetable deposits, which may be removed by opening the bottom cover.

The mechanism responsive to the knob comprises a hingely mounted plate connected to a spring for biassing the plate in the direction of the cam and the switch. The switch can close the circuit when the door opens and the knob projects outside the stile of the door. Additional cams, tumbler switches and circuits may be combined for producing a variety of alarm producing conditions.
Abstract: The incinerator is made of a loading member, a burning chamber, a combustion chamber and a duct member having a restricted dimension for connecting the burning and the combustion chambers. The loading member is an upstanding cylinder for receiving the waste material and dropping it in the burning chamber. The burning chamber has a floor located at such a distance from loading cylinder so as to obtain the spreading of the waste material in a generally frusto-conical shape. A peripheral wall around the burning chamber is dimensioned to leave an air space around the frusto-conical shape. An air intake in the peripheral wall provides a circulation of air in the air space. The duct members are diametrically opposed to the air intake and funnel the hot fumes from the burning chamber to the combustion chamber. The concentration of the hot fumes in the duct members considerably raises the temperature in the duct members for a practically complete decomposition of the products in the fumes.
Abstract: A clothes drying rack adapted to be fixed to a ceiling and between lateral walls surrounding a bathtub. It includes a rectangular frame having cross-bars secured to the frame. The frame is supported to the ceiling by a pair of brackets having a flange in the plane of the frame. Each bracket is mounted on two opposite long sides of the frame.
