  • Patent number: 5832790
Abstract: The self-cleaning wire stripper includes a wire stripping element, such as an RF coil, which burns insulation from a segment of wire. A wire guide, such as a insulating burn tube, positioned within the wire stripping element guides the wire through the wire stripping element. The self-cleaning wire stripper uses a reamer having a wire channel such that the wire passes through the reamer. At the desired time, such as at the end of every burn operation, the reamer cleans the wire guide, resulting in no down time for tube removal/cleaning. The reamer cycle time is transparent to the process and does not slow down throughput because reaming occurs during the coil winding process.

  • Patent number: 5667655
Abstract: A method for use in the construction of a color display screen using deposition of a plurality of electroluminescent materials onto a substrate bearing said screen. The method comprises the forming operations a), b), and c) in any sequence: a) forming on the substrate a first pattern of deposition sites covered with a first material selectively strippable by a first agent; b) forming on the substrate a second pattern of deposition sites covered with a second material strippable by a second agent but not significantly attacked by said first agent; and c) forming on the substrate a matrix surrounding the first and second patterns of deposition sites. The method includes thereafter performing a first stripping of the first material with the first agent to reveal first deposition sites within the matrix and performing a first depositing of a first electroluminescent material within the first revealed deposition sites.

  • Patent number: 5668946
Abstract: A television cable system includes a headend and a decoder coupled by an in-band communication link and an out of band communication link. The headend controller includes conventional transmission systems for providing a plurality of program channels to the decoder via the in-band communication link. In addition, the headend system includes a plurality of controller inputs which provide data to a download executive circuit which in turn organizes data and transfer it to a transmitter coupled to the out of band data link. Within the decoder, a pair of processors are operative via a communication link therebetween. One processor is of predefine capability and is used to operate a user keyboard as well as conventional tuning and signal processing and descrambling systems to provide television display. The remaining processor includes a memory manager coupled to an out of band transmission receiver which receives downloaded interpretive execution data.

  • Patent number: 5248914
Abstract: An annulus attached adjacent the edge planes of a CRT front panel provides screen area savings, and in the preferred embodiment, panel protection, strengthening, and anti-implosion properties. The annulus is preferably composed of a plurality of sections and incorporates a shadow mask support. The annulus is attached to the front panel before receiving the shadow mask becomes a part of the CRT envelope. In a preferred embodiment, the annulus is composed of ceramic and is x-ray shielded by an application of lead-based frit.
