  • Patent number: 5204977
Abstract: A radio receiver (107) including at least two amplifier (245, 247, 207) stages each having adjustable gain. The receiver (107) generates a first and a second control signal (267, 229). In absence of receiving an input signal, the receiver (107) adjusts the gain of at least the first of the at least two amplifier stages (207) with said first control signal (229). Upon generation of the second control signal (267) the gain of the first of the at least two amplifiers stages (207) is maintained at a constant level. The gain of a second of the at least two amplifier stages (247) is adjusted with said first control signal (229), producing an output signal (269). A predetermined amplitude of the output signal (269) is maintained while receiving an input signal.

  • Patent number: 5117073
Abstract: A hinge actuated switch apparatus initiates a control signal responsive to the rotational movement of a flip element (103) on a radiotelephone unit (100). The radiotelephone unit's circuitry senses of whether the flip element (103) is in a closed or open position. The integrated miniature switch comprises a pin (223) attached eccentrically to one end of a hinge (221) on the flip element (103). As the flip element (103) is rotated, the pin (223) drives a push rod (203) to compress a conductive elastomeric pad (205) thereby electrically connecting normally open conductive circuit pads (234 and 236), on the surface of a printed circuit board (201).

  • Patent number: 5087004
Abstract: A mechanism using a convertible mounting apparatus (103 and 105) for installing a communication device in both a horizontal and vertical configuration is described. The position of a wedge shaped platform (103) on the installation interface of the communications device (105) may be changed without separating the wedge shaped platform (103) from the installation interface of the communication device (105). In a vertical installation configuration, an aperture disposed in the installation interface of the communication device (105) further encompassed by the wedge shaped platform (103) provides a volume of space to store excess electrical cord (205) used for the communication device.

  • Patent number: 5083304
Abstract: An automatic gain control apparatus and method which optimally adjusts the gain of an amplifier to compensate for time-varying energy levels of a received input signal. A control input signal for adjusting the gain of the amplifier is determined by the selective average energy level of a present input signal, the transfer function characteristic of the amplifier and a previous control signal. A fast loop response time maintains the energy level of the amplified output signal at a nominal level.
