  • Patent number: 4488539
Abstract: Apparatus for collecting and transferring solar heat to a medium to be heated comprises a heat pipe having an evaporator part and a condenser part; a solar heat absorber plate in thermally conductive contact with the evaporator part; and an evacuated transparent envelope surrounding the absorber plate and the evaporator part. Means is provided on the condenser part for increasing its heat-transferring area. A duct section is included for the medium to be heated, such duct section being constituted by an inlet duct and an outlet duct separated by a wall having a first aperture. A second aperture is formed in the outer wall of the duct section, the second aperture having at least the same diameter as the first aperture and being in alignment therewith, the diameter of the second aperture corresponding to that of the transparent envelope.

  • Patent number: 4481711
Abstract: A dry-shaving apparatus comprises a shear-shaving section having a first head member formed by an arcuate flexible shear foil providing a working surface, such shear-shaving section including a plurality of reciprocatingly drivable cutters co-operating with the flexible shear foil. Included is a comb-shaving section having a second head member constructed as a rigid trough-shaped part fixedly and permanently connected to the flexible shear foil and provided with a working surface, such comb-shaving section including a reciprocatingly drivable rigid cutter co-operating with the rigid trough-shaped part. The first head member and the second head member together constitute a head-member unit. A cutter unit co-operates with the head-member unit and includes a reciprocatingly drivable support for supporting and driving the cutters of the respective shaving sections.

  • Patent number: 4466474
Abstract: A thermally insulating transparent wall element comprises a plurality of paraxially, adjacently arranged evacuated transparent tubes each having an axially arranged shaft journalled therewithin, an elongate sunshade strip being mounted on each shaft. A ratchet wheel is supported on one end of each shaft and has at its circumference engaging elements situated at the same angular distance from one another. An externally operable pawl cooperates with the engaging elements of the ratchet wheel to advance the same in step-wise manner. Means is provided to drive the pawl; and a member is coupled to the pawl drive means for latching the ratchet wheel at the end of each movement step, such member being releasable from the ratchet wheel by the pawl drive means just before the start of the next movement step.

  • Patent number: 4455998
Abstract: There is provided a solar collector comprising an evacuated transparent envelope having an absorber arranged therewithin. A duct containing a heat-transport medium is arranged at least partially within such envelope and is so associated with the absorber that heat derived from incident solar radiation is transferred to the heat-transport medium in the duct during operation. A reversible heatable hydrogen getter consisting of a partial metal hydride is positioned in the envelope, together with a fully hydrogenized metal hydride thermally more stable and having a higher affinity for oxygen than the partial hydride.
