Abstract: The invention provides a hair treatment composition comprising a hair substantive polymer, the hair substantive polymer comprising a polymeric backbone bearing: (a) at least one side chain which is formed from a hair fiber targeting group which is covalently linked to the polymeric backbone, the hair fiber targeting group being a non-cationic species which is capable of specifically interacting with the protein surface of the hair fiber in a non-covalent interaction having a bond energy ranging from 0.5 to 3 Kcal/mol, when the composition is applied to hair; (b) preferably, at least one side chain which is different to side chain (a) and which comprises a hair benefit agent. Compositions of the invention provide for deposition and delivery of benefit agents to hair in a more efficient and targeted manner.

Abstract: Disclosed is a quick dispersing hair conditioning composition comprising (a) an isostearamidopropyl ethyldimethylammonium salt or a dicocodimethylammonium salt; (b) one or more fatty alcohols; (c) dimethicone; and (d) water. The hair conditioning composition of the invention has one or more advantageous properties. For example, an embodiment of the invention has a dispersion rate such that when 1.5 mL of the composition is dispersed into 400 mL of water at about 35° C. to about 40° C., the dispersion has a transmittance at 420 nm that is less than about 70% of the water at the same temperature in less than about 120 seconds.
Abstract: The invention provides a method for inhibiting color fading in color-treated keratinous fibers, which method includes treating the keratinous fibers with a color-fade inhibiting-effective effective amount of a monoalkyl quaternary ammonium salt. The invention also provides a method for enhancing the intensity of color in color-treated keratinous fibers, which method includes treating the keratinous fibers with a color intensity enhancing effective amount of an alkyl a quaternary ammonium salt. Additionally provided are products for inhibiting the fading of color and increasing the intensity of color in color-treated keratinous fibers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to super mild surfactant systems used in combination with skin or hair benefit agent(s). Specifically, surfactant systems comprise a combination of specific alkanoyls or mixtures of alkanoyl surfactants with specifically identified fatty acyl isethionate product to provide synergy which reduces irritation (as measured by Patch Testing) so greatly that it is comparable to mildness which normally can be only achieved using very great amounts of benefit agent (e.g., emollient). Use of benefit agent reduces irritation even further.
