  • Patent number: 5533161
Abstract: A method resulting in a package for a fiber optic component includes positioning the fiber optic component within a primary protective body. A flat wrappable secondary protective material having an adhesive on one side thereof is then wrapped around the primary protective body a plurality of times. The flat wrappable secondary protective material may be marked prior to wrapping the primary protective body. The adhesive on the flat wrappable secondary protective material may include a pressure sensitive adhesive allowing the primary protective body to be unwrapped.

  • Patent number: 5386424
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting information between dual redundant components comprises two information sources each of which is coupled to two transmitters, the outputs of which are coupled to four signal paths for transmission to two independent voters. Each of the voters compares predetermined pairs of the signals on the four signal paths and provides a preferred one of the signals to a corresponding receiver based on the results of the pair comparisons.

  • Patent number: 5326163
Abstract: A dither motor reed apparatus for use in a dither motor which includes a hub member and an outer support housing. The dither motor reed apparatus has a robust inner section having a hub end and a first joining end and an outer section which is more limber than the robust inner section. The hub end of the robust inner section is rigidly affixed to the hub member. The outer section of the reed has a support end and a second joining end. The outer section's second joining end is integrally affixed to the robust inner section's first joining end and the support end is rigidly affixed to the outer support housing of the dither motor. Piezoelectric elements are affixed to the dither motor reed apparatus and the construction of the reeds significantly reduces stresses on those elements.

  • Patent number: 5319480
Abstract: A half-tone liquid crystal display panel having half-tone pixels, each comprising a plurality of sub-pixels including first and second sub-pixels. Activation voltage is supplied to the first sub-pixel from a TFT switch and to the second sub-pixel from the TFT switch through a coupling capacitor. The second sub-pixel includes a storage capacitor. Sensitivity of the activation voltage applied to the second sub-pixel resulting from capacitance non-uniformity across the panel is reduced by forming the coupling capacitor and the storage capacitor of the second sub-pixel with the same depositions utilizing a common dielectric layer. The capacitance of the storage capacitor of the second sub-pixel is designed large compared to the capacitance of the second sub-pixel.
