Patent number: 6497033Abstract: A shelving standard is fabricated from a single plate with portions of the plate folded back on themselves, preferably utilizing roll forming operations. This allows bores formed in the plate before roll forming to be aligned in pairs as through holes when portions of the plate are folded over on themselves. By forming one bore of a pair larger than another, the bore pair becomes a countersunk hole. Such a shelving standard may be screwed to a stud which has a gap therein so that a line of slots in the standard is aligned with the gap. The stud also has a transverse through hole supporting a cross-member. Wall panels are provided with clips which rest on the cross-member so that wall panels may be mounted without being screwed to the stud.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2000Date of Patent: December 24, 2002Inventor: Robert S. Patent number: 6409691Abstract: A brace has a number of flexible compression bags filled with liquid disposed around the injured body part. The liquid is pressurized by a pump, which may be driven by muscle contracting or weight-bearing activities. The pump may provide a dynamic, oscillatory pressure, or a constant pressure, which pressure may be equal to the normal resting liquid pressure in the injured limb. The bags are segmented with valves allowing the liquid to flow in a controlled manner through the bags. The bags may be containing bags, or may be selectively placed to create pressures to resist specific injury effects and potential deformations when healing.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1999Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Daos LimitedInventors: Edward B. Patent number: 6386613Abstract: A four bar link is provided between a walled cargo area of a truck and a rigid rear cargo door. The effective length of the lower link of the four bar linkage is longer than that of the upper link such that the motion of the door is generally up and over the top of the truck body. An eccentric cam is joined to the upper link with a tensioned spring extending around the cam such that the spring slackens as the door opens. The cam is configured so that, as the door is opened, the spring slackens more slowly initially then more quickly. This allows the door to be moved initially mostly outwardly before moving significantly upwardly and still be effectively counterbalanced throughout its motion.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: Unicell LimitedInventor: Scott J. Patent number: 5500953Abstract: Known protective helmets used for motorcycle riding, flying and snowmobiling employ transparent visors that have heating elements to reduce and attempt to eliminate the build-up of ice, condensation and fog. A double-lensed face shield is provided with a pair of electrodes formed on an inner face lens, in the air pocket formed between the inner face lens and the outer weather lens. Substantially across one entire surface of the inner face lens is formed an electroconductive film. An upper electrode extends from a first end along an upper margin of the inner face lens on the film to a second end. On the opposite lower margin extends on the film a lower electrode from a first end to a second end. An insulated contact passes from one side of the inner lens to the other and connects the first end of the lower electrode with a conductor which extends on the opposite side of the inner lens towards the first end of the upper electrode.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1994Date of Patent: March 26, 1996Assignee: 546401 Ontario LimitedInventors: Douglas A. Patent number: 4876725Abstract: The invention relates to an optical processing fingerprint verification device. A light source illuminates a prism upon which the user has placed two fingers to that light reflected from the prism is modulated by the data of the users fingerprints. The fingerprint data beam passes through a lens and undergoes a Fourier transform at a card including a reflection hologram matched to two fingerprints of a reference individual. The intensity distribution of the ligh reflected from the hologram determines whether a match exists. Use of a reflection hologram allows use of an incoherent light source. The two fingers are located on the prism by movable guides positioned by information on the card as to the relative length and the width of the two fingers of the reference individual. This provides a second level of verification. Scaling sensitivity may be reduced by utilizing a frequency multiplexed hologram.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1987Date of Patent: October 24, 1989Assignee: Mytec Technologies Inc.Inventor: George J.
