  • Patent number: 5314497
Abstract: A liner that covers an amputation stump and which cushions the stump when it is placed into a prosthesis socket includes selectively inflatable bladders for customizing the liner to fit individual patients. In a first embodiment, the liner is made of two liner parts, one being an inner liner and the other being an outer liner. The inner liner is placed onto the amputation stump and a prosthetist determines the region or regions where bladders are needed to provide a comfortable fit. The region or regions are outlined with an adhesive and the outer liner is then brought into overlying relation to the inner liner so that the two liner parts adhere to one another along the outlined regions. Upon inflation, the inner liner conforms to the shape of the amputation stump to provide enhanced cushioning and the outer liner conforms to the shape of the interior wall of the socket and the patient receives a custom fit from a simple appliance.

  • Patent number: 5312474
Abstract: This invention relates to a plant activator, a mycelial fertilizer, and a method of producing the fertilizer. The essential component of the activator and the fertilizer is purified pyrolignous acid. The plant activator includes 80-97 parts by weight of purified pyrolignous acid and 3-20 parts by weight of saccharide containing glucose. The mycelial fertilizer having purified pyrolignous acid includes predominant thermoactinomyces as mycelium. The mycelium is obtained by incubation and fermentation on a porous carrier while a pH of 7.5-9.5 is maintained. The plant activator revives plants weakened by stress. • Patent number: 5309729
Abstract: A thermal purge system includes a purge vessel into which is introduced hot gaseous refrigerant fluid from the outlet of a conventional chiller. A first coil having very cold refrigerant fluid flowing through it is positioned within the vessel so that much of the hot gaseous refrigerant fluid from the chiller is condensed upon contact with the coil. The condensate collects on the bottom of the vessel until it reaches a depth sufficient to initiate a syphoning action by an artesian well which returns the condensate to the chiller. Uncondensed gases are reheated and re-expanded external to the vessel and returned to the vessel through a second coil in heat transfer relation to the first coil so that further condensation occurs. Noncondensibles which remain after the reheating, re-expansion, and recooling are purged to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 5307550
Abstract: Worn screw threads in the lower unit of a motorboat are repaired by cutting off the trailing end of a housing that is formed integral with the lower unit. The cut off part has the worn screw threads formed in it. A replacement part having pre-formed screw threads is welded into place to replace the cut off part, and a screw thread-cutting tool is used to clean and remove warpage from the screw threads in the replacement part after the welding is completed. An alignment tool holds the replacement part during the welding procedure.

  • Patent number: 5306187
Abstract: An inflator manifold made of plastic materials that is as strong as metallic inflator manifolds and that has the same external dimensions of metallic inflator manifolds so that it meets industry strength and size standards. The outermost end of the inflator manifold is capped by an end cap having external and internal threads so that a double screw threaded engagement is achieved that matches the strength of metallic threads. The side walls of the inflator manifold are thickened in an internal direction so that the bore for gaseous fluids under pressure entering the article to be inflated has a diameter less than the diameter of a bore of a metallic inflator manifold.

  • Patent number: 5299767
Abstract: A pressure washer frame is modified to include a hose reel and a gunvalve rack so that those items can be transported to a job site with the pressure washer. The hose reel is created by connecting a stop member to the conventional handle with a pair of brackets so that a hose can be coiled about the handle and held against slippage by the stop member. The rack for the gunvalve is created by adding a pair of longitudinally spaced cradles to the frame. The first cradle is added to the handle end of the frame and supports the pistol grip part of the gunvalve. The second cradle is added to the opposite end of the frame and supports the distal end of the gunvalve. A strap associated with the second cradle holds down the distal end.

  • Patent number: 5299637
Abstract: A concrete well having an upper axial portion (10) decreasing in width axially from a larger bottom cross section to a smaller cross section at an upper opening of the well. The well includes an annular raiser (12) which is injection-molded of a plastic material and is located on the upper end surface (11) of the well surrounding said opening to extend the well axially upwards. The raiser has depressions (19) which extend in the peripheral direction of the raiser alternatingly on one side and the other of the raiser. The depressions are arranged in groups regularly spaced from each other by transverse solid portions (21) of the raiser. A well covering (13, 14) is supported on the raiser.

  • Patent number: 5298677
Abstract: An automatic playing apparatus according to the present invention, stores, in an automatic playing pattern data memory, chord, bass, drum data for each of a plurality of intro, normal and ending patterns, and drum data for each of a plurality of fill-in patterns, and reads, when a fill-in is selected via an operation panel, chord data and bass data, stored for an intro, normal, or ending pattern data, and drum data, stored for a fill-in pattern, to perform automatic playing. Further, an automatic playing apparatus according to the present invention includes an automatic playing pattern data memory wherein loud fill-in pattern data and soft fill-in pattern data are stored, sets an intonation value using an intonation dial as the performance is developed, and performs automatic playing based on either loud fill-in pattern data, if the intonation value is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, or based on the soft fill-in pattern data, if the intonation value is smaller than the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5298082
Abstract: A degreasing method and system which subjects dirty and oily parts to a bath of relatively impure solvent and thereafter rinsing such parts in relatively pure solvent. The rinsing is performed above the bath so that the relatively pure solvent used as a rinse falls into the bath and recharges it. The relatively pure solvent is continuously obtained by distilling a portion of the solvent from the bath in a closed continuous flow system. The novel solvent used is a mixture of esters of low molecular weight aliphatic carboxylic acid and a normally liquid branched chain alkane.

  • Patent number: 5295691
Abstract: A generally rectangular game board block has a recessed arcuate part formed in a first end, and a protruding arcuate part formed in a second end. The arcuate parts share a common radius of curvature. In one embodiment, the complemental arcuate parts of contiguous game board blocks abut one another so that they are pivotal with respect to one another. In another embodiment, a retainer associated with the recessed arcuate part engages a rim of the protruding part of a contiguous game block so that the contiguous parts are positively held together as they are rotated with respect to one another. Another embodiment has a hinge-like interconnection and a bias member introduces play into the structure.
