  • Patent number: 5624846
Abstract: A continuous flow analyzing method and an apparatus for carrying out the analyzing method wherein a sample is injected in a continuously flowing carrier and the sample is introduced into a detector by the carrier to thereby perform a quantitative analysis contained in the sample. In the method the sample to be analyzed is filled into a sample introduction switchover valve (SISV); a portion of the sample from the SISV is injected into the carrier and an analysis of this sample is conducted to obtain a detection peak for the analyzed sample. These steps are repeated and the sample is continuously analyzed by, in the case where a detection peak obtained in the detector is under an optimum analysis range, increasing an injection amount of the sample, and in the case where the detection peak obtained in the detector is over the optimum range, decreasing the injection amount of the sample. Adjustment of the detection peak is repeated until the detection peak reaches the optimum analysis range.

  • Patent number: 5616681
Abstract: A method for producing an aliphatic polyester having a biodegradability and a higher melting point than conventional aliphatic polyester by suppressing a volatile component generated by side reaction or decomposition reaction with industrially good efficiency and economically in a relatively short period of time, the method enabling a polymerization at vacuum which permits a use of general vacuum pump. The aliphatic polyester can be obtained, for example, by a ring-opening copolymerization of a cyclic acid anhydride with a cyclic ether in a presence of a zirconium compound. The aliphatic polyester also can be obtained by performing a polymerization of raw materials of the aliphatic polyester so as to have a degree of viscosity in the range of 10-10,000 poise when 0.1-30 hours elapsed after the reaction started at reaction temperature of the reaction system under conditions of reaction temperature in the range of 180.degree. C. to 280.degree. C. and reaction pressure in the range of 0.3 mmHg to 3.0 mmHg.

  • Patent number: 5610572
Abstract: A resistor element has a ceramic substrate and a metallic resistor coated onto the substrate. The metallic resistor has varied electrical resistance depending on temperature. A pair of leads are electrically connected to the metallic resistor. A plurality of glass layers having different compositions are coated onto the metallic resistor. The second glass layer fills a hole formed in the first glass layer, thereby improving response of the resistor element. The second glass layer has a softening point lower than the first glass layer, thereby small bubbles remain dispersed in each glass layer without aggregation. An outermost glass layer is composed of a glass resisting chemicals or a glass resisting abrasion. An innermost glass layer is composed of a glass containing up to 3 percent by mole of a sum of Na.sub.2 O and K.sub.2 O.

  • Patent number: 5608154
Abstract: A carbon monoxide sensor (40) has a substrate arranged with other adjacent or overlaid layers attached thereon (41) defining a first space (43a) into which a unknown gas or gas mixture is introduced into and a second space (43b) communicating with the first space. A carbon monoxide adsorbent (61) is disposed in the second space, and an electrode (56) detects a partial pressure of oxygen in the carbon monoxide adsorbent. A pump cell includes the cell part (42), made of a solid electrolyte conducting oxygen ion, and a pair of electrodes (51, 52). The pump cell substantially removes oxygen from a gas in the first space (43a) while carbon monoxide in the gas is adsorbed onto the carbon monoxide adsorbent (61). Then, the pump cell introduces oxygen into the first space (43a), and a time is measured that the oxygen diffuses from the first space (43a) to the first detecting electrode (56) through the adsorbent (61).
