  • Patent number: 6154333
Abstract: An amplification circuit for an MR head which can realize a reduction of the power consumption, simplification of the circuit configuration by providing capacitors inside the circuit, and reduction of the number of externally provided parts, wherein a current is supplied to an MR head resistor from a bias current source and the amount of change of the head resistance is converted to a voltage change when reproducing magnetically recorded data. A direct current component of the voltage dropped in the head resistor is cut by capacitors, and only the alternating current component is input to a differential amplification circuit configured by transistors. Recorded data can be distinguished in accordance with an amplified output voltage, so capacitances of direct current cut-off capacitors can be set small and thus the direct current cut-off capacitors can be provided in the IC chip and the number of external parts can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6146957
Abstract: Since the PN junction of a photodiode is formed of a silicon substrate having a low impurity concentration and an epitaxial layer, the width of the depletion layer in the PN junction is formed wider, the parasitic capacitance by the junction capacitance is lowered, and the diffusion length of the silicon substrate is formed longer. Besides, a buried layer containing a high impurity concentration is formed by a high energy ion implantation method in such a depth that the buried layer cannot be depleted by a reverse voltage applied to the PN junction, which is served as a region to lead out the anode, which accordingly results in a low parasitic resistance at the anode. Thereby, the invention provides a semiconductor device including a photodetector and a method of manufacturing the same that achieves a high photoelectric conversion sensitivity and an excellent frequency characteristic at the same time.

  • Patent number: 6147760
Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) surface profile measurement method and apparatus uses projected energy with a known spatially varying wavelength distribution over the surface of objects in a scene. The varying wavelength of the light corresponds to the angle at which the light is emitted from a light source. Given this correspondence, light reflected from the scene can be identified by wavelength as to angle at which it was emitted. Triangulation can then be used to determine the distance to the point in the scene from which the detected light is reflected. When performed over a number of points on the scene, a three-dimensional profile of the scene can be generated.

  • Patent number: 6144347
Abstract: A head-mounted image display apparatus includes optical visual units mounted on a laterally disposed shaft and adjustable so as to be movable toward and away from each other for establishing a correct eye spacing for a user. LCD display panels are mounted within the optical visual units so as to be vertically movable while ocular lenses onto which images displayed by the LCDs are projected via an obliquely arranged mirror are positionally fixed relative the eyes of the user such that focus adjustment will not cause image dropout and so that focus and eye spacing may be established independently of each other. Sliders provided for effecting focus and eye spacing adjustment are mounted such that frictional force is applied thereto for providing smooth but sure movement of the sliders so that a set position of the sliders may be reliably maintained. The sliders may be mounted via a self lubricating mounting to improve adjustment smoothness and slide characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6140774
Abstract: A first electrode group and a second electrode group each being formed by planarly arraying a plurality of electrodes on a common substrate are arrayed such that the electrodes cross over through an insulating layer. A common discharge electrode portion is arranged between each pair of adjacent electrodes of the first electrode group to be opposite to the pair of electrodes, and plasma discharge portions are formed at opposing portions of the respective discharge electrode portions and the opposite portions of each of the pairs of electrodes opposite to the discharge electrode portions. Thus, a problem of decreases in width of electrodes and inter-electrode interval caused by an increase in definition in a planar-type plasma discharge display device is solved, and at the same time, without using a complex signal processing circuit, the display drive of the planar-type plasma discharge display device and a high-luminance display drive are performed without causing any image degradation.
