Abstract: A device for attachment to both porous and non-porous wall surfaces includes a suction cup having an elastomeric core and an elastomeric outer layer that is substantially softer than the inner layer. The outer layer includes material that fills pores within a porous surface against which the suction cup is held. The inner layer prevents tearing of the suction cup and causes a partial vacuum to be formed as the suction cup attempts to return to its original shape following depression against a wall surface.

Abstract: A leash handle includes rigid housing including a generally cylindrical graspable portion having a cavity holding a drawer for holding items, such as bags for cleaning animal waste. The drawer can be slid between a closed position, within the housing, and an open position, extending outward from the housing. A member for holding one or more individual animal leashes is pivotally mounted on the housing.
Abstract: A container for plants includes an integral structure having a bottom wall, a side wall extending upward to an edge forming an open top, and an elongated member extending downward from an opening in the bottom wall for attachment of the container to the soil of a garden. In one version, the elongated member is removably attached to the container, and a plug is provided for the opening, so that the container can be placed on a flat surface for displaying a plant that is later placed in a garden area in the container with the elongated member extending into the soil.
Abstract: A cup holder includes a base having a cup-receiving central portion, a number of cup holding elongated members extending upward around the central portion to hold a cup in place so that it is not overturned or blown away by the wind, and a number of openings extending upward from a lower surface of the base to receive the cup holding elongated members of another, similar cup holder so that the cup holders can be stacked for storage. The cup holder may include a removably attached, downward extending member for attachment to a soft soil surface. In one version, the cup holding elongated members and the openings are tapered, with the openings extending within the cup holding elongated members. In other versions, the openings are placed within the base in patterns similar to the pattern of the cup holding elongated members, with the patterns being spaced apart from one another.
Abstract: A portable urinal includes a simulated golf club and a privacy shield, allowing the urinal to be used in a secluded part of a golf course while appearing to practice a golf swing. In one embodiment, the simulated golf club includes an elongated sealed receptacle for holding urine. In another embodiment, the elongated sealed receptacle is formed within a canister attached to the simulated golf club, which may be an actual golf club.

Abstract: A stencil stamp includes a number of stencils having openings with various shapes, with the stencils being individually attached to a housing of the stencil stamp so that the stencils can be easily and cleanly changed. The stencil stamp also includes a cover for preventing the evaporation of ink from a pad within the stencil stamp. In a first version, a stencil and/or the cover is slid into a slot within the housing. In a second version, the housing includes a threaded surface for the attachment of a stencil and/or the cover.
Abstract: An attachment device for attaching an article to a wall surface includes a bracket with an outwardly extending plate having a hole through which an elongated portion of the article can be placed and an attachment plate, perpendicular to the outwardly extending plate, having at least one hole through which the bracket may be attached directly to the wall by a screw. The attachment device additionally includes a housing having a suction cup for attachment to the wall, a coupling for removably receiving the bracket, and an actuator for causing the suction cup to engage and release the wall surface.
Abstract: A self cooling container for a beverage includes a receptacle holding a refrigerant under pressure. When an outer cap of the container is opened, the refrigerant is exhausted, cooling the receptacle and the beverage surrounding it. The receptacle includes an inner receptacle member and one or more walls extending around the receptacle member, with spaces between adjacent walls being established at descending pressure values outward from the inner receptacle, which is held at a high pressure.
Abstract: An external fixation device for holding bone fragments in place includes a housing having a number of rotationally adjustable pin holders, each of which is held by a clamping member that simultaneously clamps the pin holder within an internal mounting surface of the housing and a bone pin within the pin holder. A first embodiment includes a number of internal mounting surfaces, each of which can include a single pin holder. A second embodiment includes one or two internal mounting surfaces, each of which holds a row of pin holders that is clamped in place by a single clamping member.
Abstract: A cabinet includes spaces for a number of electronic enclosures, each of which has a free end from which a pair of levers extend upward and downward to teeth engaging slots within the cabinet, aiding in the insertion and removal of the enclosures from the cabinet. An electronic enclosure that is wider than a standard width includes additional teeth on crank plates turning with the levers. The electronic enclosure may include an electrically-operated interlock mechanism preventing the insertion or removal of the electronic enclosure by preventing movement of a shaft attached to either or both of the levers.

Abstract: A straw is held within a beverage container in a manner providing for the upper end of the straw to be deployed upward, through an opening provided within the top of the container when an opening tab in the top of the container is pivoted downward. An upper end of the straw is held in a straw holding portion of a straw supporting structure within the beverage container, with the straw supporting structure including a cantilever portion that is deflected downward by contact with an edge of the opening tab as the opening tab is pivoted downward.
Abstract: A scanner, which reads machine readable information on an item and determines its location on the item, also includes one or more video cameras for determining dimensions of features on the item. A computer uses the machine readable information to find a record within a data structure. The record includes dimensions of one or more visible features of an item corresponding to the machine readable information and identified according to their location relative to the machine readable information. These dimensions of features are then compared to the dimensions of features of the item being scanned to determine whether the machine readable information read by the scanner matches the item being scanned.
