Abstract: A portable electronic device has an interface for connecting it to a parent machine that has the function of executing programs. The portable electronic device further including a program storage unit, a control unit that controls execution of the programs, a display that displays information according to the executed programs, an operation input unit for operating the programs, and a power supply unit that supplies power to each of those units. Information accompanying the execution of a calculator program is transferred from the parent machine to the portable electronic device, and it executes a calculator program stored in the program storage unit by the control unit based on the transferred information.
Abstract: Wooden framework building system consisting of semi-finished industrial product formed of glued boards. The construction according to the invention is made from only two bearing elements forming sill (1), purlin (2), ledge (4) and post (3). The cross-sections of the two bearing elements have each one side of the same size. The sizes for each particular case are determined by the requirements of the projects and plans, the statistical and physical aspects of the construction. To provide for an accurate, undismountable and resistant connection of the construction elements two dowels (9) are used per assembly. The lengths of the construction elements are determined from the module selected for the horizontal, respectively vertical elements.
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to enhance communications functions of a portable electronic equipment (1) that has optical communications functions so that the light beams emitted from other equipment with which it communicates can be adequately received even when the equipment (1) is being carried by a user. According to the present invention, a light-reflecting member (20) is attached to a strap body (10) used to carry the portable electronic equipment (1) in a hanging down position. The light-reflecting member (20) is positioned near a light receiver (4) provided on the top part (1a) of the portable electronic equipment (1) and reflects light beams used for optical communication from the surroundings and guides them to the light receiver (4).
Abstract: A multiple line grid (MLG) for use in a multiple line grid array(MLGA) packaging incorporates therein circuit elements, e.g., metal lines, resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors or combinations thereof, with a view to reducing a size of a printed circuit board on which it is mounted. The MLGA package includes a semifinished package including a surface with a first metal pattern formed thereon for connecting a number of input/output terminals, a printed circuit board(PCB) including a top surface with a second metal pattern formed thereon according to the first metal pattern; and at least of a MLG which is disposed between the semifinished package and the PCB. The MLG includes a non-conductive body incorporated therein a plurality of circuit elements and multiple number of conductors in the form of a column. Each of the conductors is electrically isolated from each other and is electrically connected to the first and the second metal patterns.
Abstract: A data processing system having one or more processor modules and a plurality of shared memory busses to increase its total system performance. Processor modules send bus requests to a bus arbiter, when they attempt to make access to shared memories or memory-mapped peripheral control modules. When such memory access requests are received, the bus arbiter checks the availability of each bus that will be used to reach the requested memories, and send bus grant signals to the requesting processor modules after resolving conflicts, if any. Since the system provides separate paths to reach the individual shared memories, two or more processor modules can be granted their access requests at the same time.
Abstract: A network termination device which will operate correctly even if its connection to a central office has reverse polarity. A network termination device at customer premises is connected to a line termination device located at a central office via a two-wire subscriber loop. If this connection was made with reverse polarity, the supply voltage provided by the line termination device would oscillate at specific intervals, alternating between normal polarity and reverse polarity. In such a case, a polarity switch controller in the network termination device directs its local polarity reversing switch to alternate the polarity at predetermined intervals longer than the cycle time of the above oscillation. This produces such a situation where a reverse supply voltage is present and the polarity reversing switch is in reverse mode, resulting in correct polarity as a whole.
Abstract: A valve device for use in a body cavity. The device including a valve ring having a compressible diameter. Further, leaflets are pivotally disposed within the valve ring for movement from an open position to a closed position. A catheter device including a first catheter and a second catheter disposed within the first catheter. The first catheter includes an expandable member disposed at a lower end. The device also includes a scale. The second catheter being advanced within the first catheter causes the expandable member to move to an expanded position, which corresponds to a diameter measurement on the scale.
Abstract: A communication device includes a number of transmitter/receiver/modem blocks installed in vertical positions. Each of the transmitter/receiver/modem blocks includes a supporting board having a front surface and a back surface, the supporting board including a plurality of fins on the front surface and a plurality of forced air-cooling fans on the supporting board. A front cover encloses the front surface of the supporting board, the front cover and the fins forming a plurality of ducts, the front cover and the front surface forming an internal opening under the fins. A back cover encloses the back surface of the supporting board. First heat-radiating circuit modules are provided at positions adjacent to the fins on the front surface. A second heat-radiating circuit module is provided within the opening.
Abstract: A microphone array apparatus includes a microphone array including microphones, one of the microphones being a reference microphone, filters receiving output signals of the microphones, and a filter coefficient calculator which receives the output signals of the microphones, a noise and a residual signal obtained by subtracting filtered output signals of the microphones other than the reference microphone from a filtered output signal of the reference microphone and which obtain filter coefficients of the filters in accordance with an evaluation function based on the residual signal.
Abstract: A communications device using an adaptive antenna allows for adaptive control of the weights provided as an input to each antenna elements of the downlink based on uplink arrival angle information regardless of the difference between the uplink and downlink frequencies, and thereby increase the system capacity of the communications system. The communication device includes an downlink weighting calculator which extracts arrival angle information for each user from uplink user signal information, simulated user signals corresponding to each antenna branch which are generated in a simulated user signals generator and a downlink weighting calculator which controls based on the arrival angle of a desired user, and the weights of the downlink applied to the respective antenna branches, based on an arbitrary adaptive algorithm using these simulated user signals.
Abstract: A synthetic resin cage for use in a bearing is provide to have a circular ring section and a column section with a plurality of columns, wherein only the base ends of the columns (4) are continued to the circular rig section (5) with the tip ends of the columns (4) being free, and some of the columns (4) have their tip ends connected to each other within a circumferential connecting frame portion (8), and e.g. part of the connecting frame portion (8) aces the end face of the rollers (6) to prevent the cage (1a) from dropping out of the bearing.
Abstract: A method for detecting an erroneous IF board mounting in a transmission device which can be employed even when one-to-one correspondence is not established for slots on a transmission device and normally mounted IF boards determines when the transmission device is activated, for each of transmission channel interfaces, whether or not a plurality of types of packages having different transmission speeds are mounted. When a plurality of types of packages having different transmission speeds coexist at one of the transmission channel interfaces, it is concluded that all the packages in the transmission channel interface are erroneously mounted.
Abstract: The quality classes of arriving short cells and the ATM virtual connections to be multiplexed are identified based on the CIDs of those short cells. Those short cells are written into FIFO memories corresponding to the ATM virtual connections and quality classes. A VC specification control section specifies one ATM virtual connection for each ATM cell sending timing. At this time, a sequence specification control section specifies one or more quality classes in sequence. A readout control section reads one or more short cells out from the FIFO memory in accordance with the specified ATM virtual connection and quality class, stores them in one ATM cell and sends the ATM cell to the ATM virtual connection specified by the VC specification control section.
Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus includes a receiver receiving an incoming video signal and producing an output video signal in response thereto, a limit setup unit setting up at least one of an upper limit value and a lower limit value for the output video signal, and a limiter supplied with the output video signal from the receiver and further with at least one of the upper limit value and the lower limit value from the limit setup unit, wherein the limiter limits a level of the output video signal produced by the receiver, by comparing the level of the output video signal according to any of the upper limit value and the lower limit value.

Abstract: A double spiral jewelry rope chain is formed with thin-walled links which, due to reinforcement, require the use of less amounts of precious metal as compared to conventional chains. In order to reinforce the chain formed by the thin-walled links, a wire of gold or other precious metal is intertwined between the strands of the jewelry chain and permanently affixed to the chain by a fused connection or bond produced by, for example, soldering, welding, brazing and/or by mechanical crimping.

Abstract: A call control apparatus shortens a call releasing process to effect the releasing process efficiently. The call control apparatus has a delay time determining factor managing function to manage a delay time determining factor which determines a delay time of the call releasing process for each path, a path order establishing function to establish an order of paths having successively smaller delay times based on the delay time determining factor, and a release request message transmitting function to transmit release request messages to effect the call releasing process to nodes or terminals according to the order of paths.
