  • Patent number: 5608665
Abstract: A self-tuned, continuous-time active filter receives a differential input signal and generates a differential output signal. The filter consists of cascaded first-order and second-order tunable filter sections. All filter sections are tuned: some filter sections are indirectly-tuned using the tuning signals from directly-tuned filter sections to control pole frequencies and Q-factors. The filter is equipped with at least one directly-tuned section that consists of a pair of identical first- or second-order sections that simultaneously receive a differential reference signal and the differential input signal. Each directly-tuned section generates a low-pass output signal and may generate a band-pass output signal.

  • Patent number: 5606758
Abstract: A multi-purpose tool includes a head portion, a handle portion coupled to the head portion, and a plurality of hexagon rods received in the head portion and the handle portion. The head portion has a first end, a central hexagon hole defined therein extending from a second end thereof to the first end and a ratchet mechanism coupled the first end thereof. The ratchet mechanism includes a central shaft having a central hexagon aperture in alignment with the central hexagon hole of the head portion. The handle portion has a first end coupled to the second end of the head portion, a central hexagon opening defined therein extending from a second end to the first end thereof and in alignment with the hexagon hole of the head portion. The handle portion is capable of pivoting about the head portion with a first axial movement of the handle portion relative to the head portion in a first direction.

  • Patent number: 5603486
Abstract: An improved frame-type, manually-operated hydraulic car jack consists of a base, a pressure release valve, a socket, a lever, a hydraulic oil cylinder, a piston, a pair of pulling bars, a pair of links, a pair of pushing bars, a load-engaging head and a locking rod. A pair of horizontally aligned holes which have a diameter slightly larger than that of the locking rod are defined in the pushing bars. When the car jack is driven to lift a car supported by the car jack to a desired level, the locking rod is inserted into and extended through the holes on the pushing bars thereby to prevent an unintentional lowering of the car jack and the car.

  • Patent number: 5597081
Abstract: A portable crane operable between a first, extended position for lifting loads and a second collapsed position for transportation includes a handle having first and second ends. A boom having first and second ends is provided such that the first end is pivotally interconnected to the first end of the handle. The boom extends outwardly from the first end of the handle in the crane first position and is disposed parallel to the handle in the crane second position. Structure is provided for supporting the handle first end and extends in a direction opposite the boom in the crane second position. A pair of outriggers anchor guy cables on the first end of the handle. A cable extends between the handle second end and the boom second end for receiving a load, such that as the cable is retracted, a load is lifted toward the boom second end.

  • Patent number: 5598429
Abstract: A multi-level correlation technique and apparatus for detecting symbol and data frame synchronization in high noise and multi-path environments, wherein received signals are correlated with known pseudorandom noise (PN) or other known codes at the base level and the base level correlation results are in turn correlated with PN or other known codes at the next higher level, such that the top level of correlation includes all lower levels of encoding in the complete synchronization pattern. In a two level implementation, the base level codes define symbols while the top level code defines the synchronization pattern in terms of the base level symbols. Correlation hardware is minimized while processing gain is maximized for enhancing low signal to noise levels over a long synchronization pattern. Additionally, precise ranging is facilitated because the top level correlation result covers the entire synchronization pattern.

  • Patent number: 5590598
Abstract: A horizontal slide mechanism for removably replacing an inking unit set in a rotary offset printing press of the type having a plate cylinder, a blanket cylinder and an impression cylinder having parallel rotational axes. The horizontal slide mechanism includes a guide track rigidly mounted to the printing press adjacent and parallel to the plate, blanket and impression cylinders. A slide plate is supported in the guide track for guided movement parallel to the plate, blanket and impression cylinder transverse to the printing press. A pivot mount is attached to the slide plate and is pivotably attached to the inking unit. The pivot mount on the slide plate provides a single pivot axis parallel to the rotational axes of the plate, blanket and impression cylinders, and is positioned spaced apart from the plate cylinder for pivoting the inking unit between a first and a second pivot position.

  • Patent number: 5588816
Abstract: A disposable cassette for a cardioplegia system for delivering cardioplegic solution to the heart during open heart surgery in cooperation with an extracorporeal blood circuit employing a heart/lung machine, includes a conduit diverting a portion of the blood flow from the heart/lung machine to a cardioplegia delivery line. A heat exchanger for controlling fluid temperature is provided in the cardioplegia delivery line. A first pump combines the blood from the conduit with a second fluid and delivers the combined flow into the delivery line leading to the heat exchanger. A control panel is operatively connected for adjusting the ratio of blood and second fluid delivered by the first pump and for adjusting the total volumetric rate of flow from the first pump.

A conduit having an intake opening at one end thereof and an exhaust opening at the opposite end thereof is coupled to the housing. Brushes are mounted to the housing for sweeping engagement with the interior surfaces of the air duct. A vacuum supply is provided to the conduit, such that dust and foreign matter which is loosened by the brushes is drawn into the conduit at the intake opening for transport to the exhaust opening. A video camera is mounted within the housing and spaced forward of the brushes for generating an image of the interior of the air duct. A display displays the image generated by the video camera during an air duct cleaning operation.
