  • Patent number: 8092584
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for making an animal blood adhesive and the resulting adhesive composition. The adhesive is made by adding to fresh, whole animal blood, without dewatering the blood, an anticoagulant and a preservative. Lime is then added to the anticoagulated, preserved blood, and the pH is adjusted to between about 9 and about 11. A curing agent (such as potassium silicate, sodium silicate and aluminum dihydrogen phosphate) and ammonia are then added to the mixture to yield the animal blood adhesive. The adhesive can be made from any animal blood, such as bovine, porcine, or avian blood. The resulting adhesive is useful for adhering wood-based products, such as plywood and particle board.

  • Patent number: 8087113
Abstract: An alternating pad comprises a first set and a second set of alternately inflatable cells. Both sets of inflatable cells are supplied with air from a pump via a rotary valve. A sensor is positioned under the pad to receive pressure exerted by a patient upon movement and to be compressible relative to the applied pressure. Any change in patient position or movement will cause an alteration in the airflow in the sensor pad tube and will reduce or increase the differential pressure measured at the pressure transducer. Based on this feedback the microprocessor directly controls the power level to the pump and increases or decreases the air flow to the cells to alter the amplitude of the cells and also controls the timing of the rotary valve to change the timing of the inflation and deflation cycle.

  • Patent number: 8085107
Abstract: The invention relates to a transmission module for transmitting data in the form of useful digital signals by modulation of a carrier, determined by the useful signals, by means of frequency shift keying. The transmission module contains a PLL circuit with a voltage-controlled oscillator and a controllable frequency divider with a frequency divider control input. The transmission module is designed to induce direct frequency shift keying (DFSK) of the carrier signal by appropriate triggering of the frequency divider with at least two different frequency divider control signals, and it has a modulation data preprocessing unit, which is connected to the frequency divider control input and is designed to weight samples of the same polarity of the useful signals to be transmitted and to fine tune the frequency divider control signal with regard to the frequency deviation to be induced.

  • Patent number: 8074667
Abstract: A makeup shield patch of material is curved at the top to fit under the eye. The front of the patch has a textured surface to catch falling eye makeup. The back of the patch has a weak adhesive which is gentle to the skin. Peel-off strips over the back adhesive surface are scored so that a narrow top peel-off strip or two end peel off strips are peeled off and the upper attaching portion adhered to the skin under the eye. The bottom part of the peel-off strip is left in place so the shield does not stick to or disturb any makeup on the cheek. A plurality of makeup shields are die-cut from a sheet of tape with a weak skin sensitive adhesive covered by scored peel off strips.

  • Patent number: 8075462
Abstract: An exemplary exercise device includes a foot cuff and a hand grip separated by an elastic member. Rigid and flexible foot cuff sections define a foot passage for a foot. A foot cuff body passage in the rigid foot cuff section receives a foot cuff pivot having an enlarged portion and a plug. The plug is inserted in an elastic member socket, and is able to point in different directions as the enlarged portion pivots within the foot cuff body passage. The hand grip includes a hand grip channel for replaceably receiving the elastic member, which is removably secured to the hand grip using an impinger or by being wrapped about the hand grip and inserted in a groove. A user can insert a foot through the foot passage and grip the hand grip, stretching the elastic member between the foot and hand while walking, performing calisthenics, etc.

  • Patent number: 8073801
Abstract: A business decision modeling system graphically models business decisions using a rule family structure that adheres to Decision Model principles. In tabular representations, for example, two-dimensional rule families have a heading and a body. The heading includes one or more condition fact types and one conclusion fact type. The body includes unique logic statements corresponding with the heading's fact types, with operators and operands indicating how the logic operates on conditions to determine conclusions. All tested conditions fact types must be true for the conclusion fact type to be true. No two rule families can have the same conclusion fact type, and the conclusion fact type of a first rule family can be a condition fact type of a second rule family. Logic statements are atomic and cannot be further decomposed. The semantic and business integrity of the business rules ensure high quality logic traceable to business objectives.
