  • Patent number: 8138423
Abstract: A printed wiring board and a method for manufacturing the printed wiring board in which widths of a first and a second circuit are close to each other and substantial miniaturization can be achieved. In order to achieve this object, a first circuit and a second circuit having different thicknesses are formed in the same reference plane by etching a metal-clad laminate including a conductive layer and an insulating layer. The thicker of the circuits has a clad-like configuration in which three layers, a first copper layer/a different kind of metal layer/a second copper layer, are sequentially stacked. The manufacture of the printed wiring board includes a clad composite material in which three layers of a first copper layer/a different kind of metal layer/a second copper layer are sequentially stacked as a start material, and selective etching characteristics between the layers are utilized.

  • Patent number: 8138151
Abstract: This invention relates to novel peptides, discovered by using phage display technique, that bind to VAP-1 (Vascular Adhesion Protein-1). The invention concerns also peptides useful as VAP-1 ligands. Such peptides constitute a portion of natural proteins that are present in the individual. The invention relates particularly to a peptide chain in the leukocyte surface protein, where said peptide chain is useful as a ligand for the VAP-1 molecule and thus facilitates the binding of leukocytes to the vascular endothelium. Furthermore, the invention relates to pharmaceutical and diagnostic compositions for targeting VAP-1 in vivo.

  • Patent number: 8129360
Abstract: The invention concerns the use of phosphatidylserine (PS), lyso-phosphatidylserine or/and a physiologically acceptable salt thereof for the treatment of the attention deficit syndrome (ADHS) in small daily doses over a longer time period and in larger daily doses over a short period as well as in combination with suitable additives selected from the group comprising antioxidants, essential fatty acids, mineral substances, amino acids, mood-lifters or/and phospholipids. In this connection it is preferred to carry out the administration to probands aged 2 to 20 years preferably 3 to 10 years whereby the phosphatidylserine as well as the additives are used in solid and also in liquid formulations. Due to its positive properties phosphatidyl-serine is in particular suitable as a therapeutic agent or food supplement in connection with ADHS. The good tolerance of phosphatidylserine even in high doses and over a longer supplementation period and the excellent compliance should also be stressed.

  • Patent number: 8130884
Abstract: Disclosed herein are an apparatus and method for synchronizing a signal analyzer. The apparatus includes an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), a signal storage unit, a trigger signal generation unit, a signal acquisition control unit, a signal analysis unit, and a time error control unit. The ADC converts the input signal into a corresponding digital signal. The signal storage unit stores therein the digital signal received from the ADC. The trigger signal generation unit generates a trigger signal for each predetermined period. the signal acquisition control unit acquires the digital signal from a signal acquisition time point. The signal analysis unit calculates the start position of a frame from the digital signal. The time error control unit calculates a time error between the time point at which each trigger signal is generated and the start position of the digital signal, and sets a subsequent signal acquisition time point based on the calculated time errors.

  • Patent number: 8126204
Abstract: In a method of processing mailpieces, signatures are derived from images of the mailpieces and serve as identifiers for the mailpieces in the sorting process. The signatures are grouped together into signature categories or graphical classes on the basis of a certain criterion of graphical similitude so as to compute a mean signature value for each graphical class. For each graphical class in question, activity of the mean signature value is analyzed for detecting significant activity of an information block in the digital images. The results of this activity detection are used for searching for a match, in a second sorting pass, between a current signature and signatures recorded in the first sorting pass.

  • Patent number: 8124267
Abstract: A lithium secondary battery is provided. Electrolytes of the lithium secondary battery are divided between an anode and a cathode into a plurality of regions not to contact with each other, thereby limiting movement paths of lithium ions. In this way, the lithium secondary battery inhibits growth of dendrite and improves energy density. Also, the lithium secondary battery that has a partition wall structure reduces leakage even when liquid electrolytes are used and actively copes with pressure applied to the battery.
