  • Patent number: 4385729
Abstract: In a housing (1) having an inlet (3) and an outlet (4), a rotor (20) has been mounted rotatably. The rotor has rows of bristles (25) in axially extending, circularly spaced apart rows. The axes of the inlet radially extending inlet (3) and of the outlet (4) are angularly related relative to each other only so far that at least two rows of bristles fit against the inside lying peripheral wall (2) and thus guarantee a good seal of the spreading device. The shaft (22) of the rotor (20) is coupled with the drive shaft (31) of an electromotor (30) by means of a coupling (32) which in the direction of rotational torque is resilient or elastic, in order to keep the starting load of the motor (30) low. The electromotor (30) is entirely capsulated and is surrounded by a housing (33) which is connected with the housing (1). At the point of connection, a sleeve (34) provides a hermetic seal.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a single action piston and cylinder having means biasing the piston toward a retracted position within the cylinder and having a non-return valve openable toward the cylinder connecting the cylinder with a fluid pressure source comprises a control valve and a proportional valve. The control valve has an inlet in fluid communication with a supply tank, an outlet in fluid communication with a supply tank, a control port in fluid communication with the fluid pressure source, and a control element movable between open and closed positions for controlling flow of fluid pressure from the inlet to the outlet. The control element is spring biased toward the open position and forced toward the closed position by pressure entering through the control port. The proportional valve regulates the pressure entering through the control port.

  • Patent number: 4381120
Abstract: Desensitization of carbonless copy systems is provided by contacting an electron-accepting, color-reactant material capable of reacting with a substantially colorless chromogenic compound to form a visible image with a desensitizing agent comprising, in combination, a non-volatile, polyoxygenated compound and a strong chelating agent. In this manner, acid-reactive clay coatings typically used in carbonless copy paper systems are effectively desensitized and prevented from reacting with conventional chromogens, such as crystal violet lactone and benzoyl leuco methylene blue.

  • Patent number: 4375264
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for segregating and separately recovering fractions of a mixture of low density solids and high density solids, such as mixtures of clam shells and free detached clam meat. The mixture of solids is submerged in a laminar flowing stream of liquid which has a specific gravity about the same as that of the low density solids and such that the low density solids are substantially non-buoyant in the liquid. The bottom of the laminar flowing stream of liquid is defined in part by an upper foraminous conveyor surface which is moving in the same direction as the laminar flowing stream. The mixture of solids is flowed across a turbulent zone of rising air bubbles, and low density solids are removed from the top of the liquid and high density solids are removed from the bottom of the laminar flowing stream. Advantageous apparatus embodiments are provided for conducting the method.

  • Patent number: 4375591
Abstract: A welding sleeve has an inner body with a grooved outer surface, a surrounding outer body and a resistance heating wire therebetween. The inner wall, between the bottoms of the grooves and inner surface of the inner body, increases in thickness toward the axial center of the sleeve. During welding, the center of the sleeve and the adjacent axial ends of the parts to be joined are heated later than the axial ends of the sleeve, thereby increasing the stability of the joint formed. Also, disclosed are improved mold assemblies for forming the welding sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4368936
Abstract: Articles of furniture such as showcases, desks, etc. are formed using side and leg members joined at corner structures, the side members defining an opening for receiving a panel, each side member having an elongated, lipped channel which receives a retainer for holding a panel such as a retainer for holding a panel such as a glass pane. Each retainer has a flange portion which is longitudinally slidable into engagement with the lipped channel, a surface which abuts the side member and an upstanding wall to engage the panel edge. In one form the wall has a bent edge to overlie the panel, preventing the panel from being lifted out of the opening in a direction parallel with itself. Interconnection structures and trim strips usable with the structure are also disclosed.
