  • Patent number: 5902367
Abstract: A method for transferring mould-carrying wagons in a bending furnace for glass sheets as well as to a bending furnace for glass sheets, comprising preheating stations (1.3, 1.4, 1.5) and more than two bending stations (2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4) in succession and therebelow a number of cooling stations (3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4), a first number of mould-carrying wagons (3, 4) on an upper track (1) and a second number of mould-carrying wagons (3, 4) on a lower track (2), an end wall (4) of the mould-carrying wagons defining said preheating, bending and cooling stations when the mould-carrying wagons (3, 4) are stationary. After a bending, the mould-carrying wagon (3, 4) is transferred under one or more bending stations (2.3, 2.2) to a location directly below the first bending station (2.1) or the final preheating station (1.5).

  • Patent number: 5897882
Abstract: A system for repairing damaged glass including a vacuum powered anchor for securing the damage repair system to a surface of a damaged piece of glass proximate to a flaw in the glass surface. Included is an evacuating enclosure coupled to the anchor, the couplement providing a means by which the enclosure is fixable relative to the anchor. A common vacuum source is selectively communicatable with the anchor and the enclosure so that vacuum pressure may be selectively applied in any combination to the anchor and the enclosure. A resin applicator is also included for depositing resin into the flaw. Also included is a repair device for a cracked piece of glass. The repair device includes at least one anchor for securing the device to a surface of the flawed piece of glass opposite the crack opening.

  • Patent number: 5896944
Abstract: A portable adjustable rail barricade for working on a roof generally comprising a plurality of removably supported rail members pivotally attached to a base member adapted for releasable engagement upon the surface of a roof. The pivotal nature of the rail member attachment allows the rail barricade to be substantially vertically oriented upon various roofs with widely ranging roof pitches. Additionally, a toe rail is provided at a distance away from the pivotal attachment of the rail members for preventing objects from falling from the roof. Because the toe rail is at a distance away from the pivotal attachment of the rail members, there is formed an extended base for the adjustable rail barricade, serving to increase the barricade's efficacy toward providing a secure barrier against falls.

  • Patent number: 5875947
Abstract: A mechanism for releasably fixing a bicycle's fork upon a support such as a vehicular load carrier or a storage mount. The mechanism includes a pair of skewers (123) that are at least partially received within a bicycle fork anchor (100) and the skewers (123) are movable one skewer (125) relative to the other skewer (130). The pair of skewers (123) are configured for fixing a bicycle's fork to the anchor (100). Each skewer (125,130) of the pair (123) is operable between a bicycle fork pre-pinched position and a bicycle fork pinch-secured position. Each skewer (125) of the skewer pair (123) is longitudinally aligned with the other skewer pair (130) and the skewers (125,130) are spaced apart from one another in at least one of the two positions. At least one handle (110) is coupled to the bicycle fork anchor (100) for operating at least one skewer (125,130) of the skewer pair (123) between the bicycle fork pre-pinched position and the bicycle fork pinch-secured position.

  • Patent number: 5871190
Abstract: A load carrier foot is intended to secure, on a vehicle roof (9), a load carrier strut, and has a support portion (7) which supports the foot on the vehicle. The load carrier foot is further provided with a clamping portion (12) which, under the action of a clamping mechanism (18, 22, 24), is urgeable against a bead (10) on the vehicle in order thereby to secure the load carrier foot. The clamping portion (12) is provided, in its central region, with a rockable or tiltable anchorage (13) in the body (1) of the load carrier foot so that a clamping member (14) located at its one end is movable into and out of engagement with the bead (10). The opposite end (15) of the clamping portion (12) is actuable by means of the one end (20) of a lever (18) pivotally secured in the body (1) and whose other end (21) is actuable by a cam section (24) on a pivotal operating handle (22).

  • Patent number: 5867984
Abstract: A method for potentiating the performance of an internal combustion engine. The method includes the steps of providing an exhaust extraction booster at a piston chamber of an internal combustion engine for evacuating exhaust product from the piston chamber through an exhaust exit. The piston chamber is defined within a piston cylinder having a piston head reciprocating therein. A fuel mixture is ignited within the piston chamber so that the fuel mixture burns at least partially and produces a heated exhaust product within the piston chamber. The extraction booster is placed in fluid communication with the piston chamber for drawing the exhaust product from the piston chamber toward and across the booster. An exhaust dilution inlet is also provided between the piston chamber and the booster for permitting cooling fluid to dilute the heated exhaust product before the exhaust product reaches the booster thereby preventing fully heated exhaust product from being processed by the booster.

  • Patent number: 5865916
Abstract: A traction enhanced wheeled irrigation system. The traction enhanced irrigation system includes at least one rotary powered tire and wheel upon which at least a portion of a traction enhanced irrigation system travels across the ground. A traction enhancer includes an arched body having a substantially concave interior surface establishing an interior space for accommodating a portion of the tire of the irrigation system and a substantially convex exterior surface that faces away from the tire of the irrigation system when installed thereupon. A paddle extends outwardly from the convex exterior surface for engaging the ground as the tire rotates thereacross for resisting slippage of the tire on the ground.
