Abstract: A heat-shrinkable, biaxially-oriented, multilayer film has a first layer comprising an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer having a major DSC peak of less than 105.degree. C. The multilayer film has a free shrink, at 185.degree. F., of at least 80 percent, and all layers of the multilayer film are shrink-compatible with respect to one another. Preferably, the multilayer film has a second layer which is an oxygen barrier layer, and preferably both of the outer film layers are grease-resistant. Furthermore, the invention includes a bag comprising the multilayer film, as well as a packaged product having a package comprising the multilayer film.
Abstract: A riboflavin granulate containing from 75 to 99.5 weight percent riboflavin is produced by:A. placing a desired quantity of riboflavin powder in the bowl of a rotary fluid bed granulator;B. fluidizing the powder with fluidizing air while rotating the rotor disc, whereby a fluidized cloud of riboflavin powder is produced; andC. spraying a binder solution into the fluidized cloud;so that at least 90 weight percent of the riboflavin powder combines to form granules.
Abstract: A process for preparing an etherified polyoxyalkylene derivative of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.4 are identical or different and are each independently C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkenyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 aryl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 alkyl aryl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 cycloalkyl, and mixtures thereof, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are identical or different and independent of each other are H, CH.sub.3, CH.sub.3 CH.sub.2, and mixtures thereof, m, m' and n are identical or different and are each greater than or equal to zero, with the proviso that m+m'+n is from 3 to 300; by reacting a polyoxyalkylene compound of the formula.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process and product thereof, and an apparatus, for converting a twisted, continuous filament, multifilament yarn into a staple-like yarn. The process is carried out by needling the yarn with a barbed needle in order to break yarn filaments. The broken yarn filaments protrude from the yarn after the needling process. The protruding filament ends give the resulting yarn the appearance of a spun yarn.
Abstract: A process for the preparation of 1,3-disubstituted 4,5-cis-dicarboxy-2-imidazolidones useful as intermediates in the preparation of Vitamin H (biotin), said intermediates have the general formula ##STR1## in which R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an aralkyl radical or an aromatic hydrocarbon radical, preferably an allyl radical or a benzyl radical, comprising reacting a defined diaminosuccinic acid with phosgene in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide.
