  • Patent number: 7998203
Abstract: A prosthetic knee implant for implantation into a mammal, which accommodates an anterior cruciate ligament substitute to provide stability to the knee implant. The prosthetic knee implant includes a femoral component having a pair of condylar surfaces and a tibial component having a surface portion adapted to slidably engage the femoral component upon rotation of the same. The femoral component further includes a recess between the condyles defining an aperture through the femoral component. The tibial component further includes a center portion defining an aperture through the tibial component substantially at its center. The femoral aperture and the tibial aperture are adapted to receive an anterior cruciate ligament substitute for biasing the mammalian femur and tibia together. Also disclosed is a method used to replace the total knee joint in a mammal with the improved prosthetic knee implant of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7318300
Abstract: A modularized jail cell having front and rear panels, two side panels connecting the front and rear panels, and a roof panel connecting the front rear and side panels. Each cell includes vertical support members oriented to provide both vertical and lateral support for each panel, and the roof panel is also adapted to serve as a floor for a second modularized jail cell positioned above the first or lower modularized jail cell. One or more cells may be connected horizontally and a system of cells may be constructed by attaching cells laterally and vertically to create a jail cell complex. Inter-connecting structures are present at the juncture of each panel to facilitate connection with an adjacently positioned cell. Front interlock plates and rear cover plates secure each laterally positioned cell together.

  • Patent number: 7049997
Abstract: A simultaneous dual polarization radar system is disclosed that utilizes a RF power divider to replace the high speed dual polarization switches utilized in current dual polarization radar systems. The disclosed systems allow for transmission and reception in both horizontal and vertical signal modes simultaneously while repositioning critical receiver components above the elevation rotary coupler in a radar pedestal. A bypass switch is also utilized to allow for mode switching of a radar system and a dual polarization reception design is shown to allow for the economical capturing of linear depolarization ratios of selected atmospheric areas. These new designs eliminate the current problems experienced in current dual polarization radar system of long dwell times and velocity range reductions, and the elimination of the relatively expensive and unreliable polarization switch.

  • Patent number: 7009370
Abstract: A scalable, interleaved pulse forming converter is disclosed having two Buck switching converter modules each contributing half to the total load of the circuit to produce a programmable current pulse. Synchronization pulses to the two modules are set 180 degrees out of phase of each other to reduce ripple current. The invention is susceptible to various interleaved modifications to further reduce ripple current and increase power, as well as to electrically isolate the load from input or battery ground.

  • Patent number: 6784570
Abstract: A power supply station is presented having a substantially flat-based portion and a taller rear portion extending upward from the rear of the primary base portion, but being formed integrally therefrom. Dual connectors extend forward from the front surface of the rear portion and are adapted for connecting with recessed male connectors found on the rear sockets of SINCGARS radio. Internal electronics within a unit converts standard 110/220 Volt AC current into a standard +12 Volt DC source compatible with standard SINCGARS radios. The internal electronics provide separate conversion power supplies for both connectors to allow for two SINCGARS radios to be powered simultaneously. The invention also includes switches for controlling the powering of any installed SINCGARS radio as well as low friction runners and retention latches on the front of the unit to allow for secure retention of the SINCGARS radio on the invention while powering.

  • Patent number: 6697763
Abstract: A testing apparatus and method consisting of multiple measurement modules having one or more circuit assembly boards, two data/power connectors, and a target connector. Signal data is accessed from 1-128 target signal sources and sampled through two separate analog to digital channels. An on-board microcontroller controls signal selection and data sampling rates and also provides for transfer of recorded data over a USB bus to a host computing device. Using a proper testing application loaded onto the host computing device, each module can be commanded to access and store representative data from a number of signal sources at each target system. Each module is connected to other modules and a host computing device to create a complete self-powered test access environment. The interconnectivity of the system makes diagnosing electronic component failures in an armored vehicle, such as a tank, much easier than prior manual fault isolation procedures.

  • Patent number: 6635892
Abstract: A small and compact infrared scene projector allows for projection of infrared images from a variety of sources. The unit utilizes an external power supply to reduce the weight of the unit and has several input pathways such as an integrated RS-232 serial port and a video port for receiving RS-170 formatted video signals. The projector uses a digital signal processor to control its internal electronics and for on-board generation of pre-programmed infrared images. A processor electronics card and a scene generator electronics card communicate internally to generate images and to control a thermoelectric cooling device mounted to a semiconductor infrared emitter array to project flicker free, high resolution infrared images. Optics in the form of an interchangeable lens or a mirrored collimator allow for projection of a generated image onto a test object.

  • Patent number: 6435792
Abstract: An improved sleeve for insulating a tacking strip from materials applied to furniture products. The sleeve covers and encompasses the entire tacking strip with the exception of a central corridor through which tacks from the strip extend. The sleeve slides over the tacking strip and includes a flexible flange graduated in thickness on either side of a central corridor left open by the sleeve. The sleeve is installed around the tacking strip by a lateral displacement of the sleeve over the strip causing the graduated flanges to deform slightly upon contact with each tack along the central corridor. Due to the deforming properties of the flange, resistance on each tack is small enough that insertion of the sleeve over the tacking strip not hindered yet sufficient to prevent further lateral displacement of the sleeve once it is installed around the tacking strip.

  • Patent number: 6316707
Abstract: A training device for brass instrument musicians is disclosed which prevents the musician from exerting excess pressure to his lips by using the mouthpiece. The device includes a central piece for holding the brass instrument that limits movement of the instrument in a direction along the longitudinal axis of the mouthpiece towards the user's lips and further includes upper and lower portions with connecting support rods for securing the position of the central piece so that the mouthpiece cannot be pressed against the user's lips. In one disclosed embodiment the device includes upper and lower portions designed to contact the musician's head and body, thereby fixing the proximity of the central piece to the user's lips.

  • Patent number: 6175343
Abstract: A method and apparatus for observing exhibit sites which provides the ability to overlay computer generated images and sound on a live exhibit to create and present these overlays on demand in varying levels of detail for use by the general public, in indoor and outdoor settings, without requiring instruction, operators, fitting, training, or supervision. The viewing device may comprise a viewing portion, a processing portion, a displaying portion, and an audio portion. Each of these components combine to provide the user with the ability to view an actual exhibit site overlaid with informational or historic re-creations to enhance the exhibit experience, as opposed to a separate display booth or other means which takes the exhibit viewer's attention away from the actual exhibit site.

  • Patent number: 6159977
Abstract: A therapeutic solution and application procedure for curing Nail fungus infections or Onychomycosis comprising a combination of an anti-fungal agent with DMSO in a anhydrous solution of Polyglycol, and including a secondary anti-inflammatory agent. The DMSO acts as a delivery vehicle so that active anti-fungal agents such as Miconazole in combination with an anti-inflammatory compound such as ibuprofen can be delivered directly to fungal infected areas under and around the nail. The DMSO, Miconazole, and ibuprofen are dissolved in a viscous solution of Polyglycol so that the combined ingredients may be applied directly to the affected nails with superior penetration. The therapeutic solution is formulated by dissolving the Miconazole into the Polyglycol over heat and adding the ibuprofen and DMSO over additional heat in a timed process.
