Patent number: 4645355Abstract: A system for mounting a clock's working components and dial mechanism on a support platform to form a self-contained assembly which can be easily installed and removed from an enclosure. A clock movement supporting the working components is releasably supported from one side of a rigid, shaped mounting bracket for precise alignment with the dial mechanism which is releasably supported from the opposite side of the bracket by a plurality of dial posts. Attachment of the bracket to the dial panel mounts the movement and dial mechanism as a unit, and the dial panel is mounted on receiving fasteners for easy installation and removal. The bracket is fabricated to close tolerances to ensure alignment of critical components and consistent spacing between the movement and dial mechanism, and is sufficiently rigid to maintain these alignments and spacing and to sustain forces imposed upon the clock during handling and shipment.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Pearl Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Michael R. Patent number: 4620581Abstract: An air tight shutter is provided having a set of pre-made bifold doors in conjunction with a frame wherein the shutters are manufactured to have tight tongue-in-groove reception area not only with respect to the bifold doors but also with respect to the bifold doors and frame. A burglar proof latch mechanism is provided such that a ball crank is turned by means of a handle thereby withdrawing elongated rod-like members from the frame section which then permits the bifold doors to open, or in the alternative, the ball crank is turned in the opposite direction causing the elongated members to penetrate an aperture in the frame and thereby lock the shutters in place. An assembly method for producing the shutter is also disclosed, along with the machinery particularly adapted for said assembly method. The machinery disclosed achieves the close tolerance required in assemblying of the shutter.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1983Date of Patent: November 4, 1986Inventor: Howard K. Wallace

Patent number: 4619665Abstract: Transfer sheets are provided which include a polyethylene imine as a blocking agent and which are useful in the heat transfer dye printing of various materials such as textiles. The polyethylene imine is capable of completely or partially blocking the transfer of sublimable dyes which have been imprinted on the transfer sheet while having no effect on other dyes which also have been imprinted on the transfer sheet. By using such transfer sheets, designs can be printed which are not otherwise obtainable by conventional techniques. The invention further concerns the method of making such sheets, their use in the printing of various materials, and the materials which have been so printed.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1985Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Technographics Printworld, Inc.Inventors: Carl E. Patent number: 4550952Abstract: The invention disclosed herein is a mining machine with an adjustable hood-scoop assembly. The machine provides a means to remove coal from the face of a seam and extract the removed coal to a position removed from the mining area utilizing a vacuum system. The instant mining machine encloses the total face of the mine seam and acts to remove all solid and gaseous material from the mining area. Use of this apparatus in the mining of coal will provide better insurance for a healthy methane-free environment for the miner. The hood-scoop assembly is constructed to provide both horizontal and vertical moving plates so as to encompass totally the area contacted by the coal removal means, such as a multitude of air hammers. The machine is both braced and made mobile by means of vertical hydraulic jacks. Hydraulic cylinder means on the hood-scoop assembly are provided with specific trackways to insure four-way movement of the adjustable plates as shown in FIGS. 1, 2, 4 and 7.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1983Date of Patent: November 5, 1985Inventor: Harvey Hall

Patent number: 4538703Abstract: A safety system which permits the free movement of the user, assists the ascent of the user and provides a reduced, controlled rate of descent in the event of an emergency descent or a fall, includes a cable attachable at one end to the user and secured at the other end to a moveable counterweight assembly. Intermediate its ends the cable passes over a pulley in a controlled descent device which also includes a centrifugally-actuated clutch coupling the pulley to a speed-multiplying gearing system and a centrifugally-operated braking assembly. Under normal-use conditions, the pulley is rotated at sufficiently low speeds to preclude engagement of the clutch, and the user has free movement, with a component of the counterweight assisting the ascent of the user. In the event of a rapid rate of descent, the increased rotational speed of the pulley is coupled to and actuates the braking assembly to reduce the rotation of the pulley and slow the descent to a lower, controlled rate.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1984Date of Patent: September 3, 1985Assignee: Research & Trading CorporationInventors: J. Patent number: 4477425Abstract: A novel method is provided for the production of anhydrous hydrofluoric acid from low-grade metallic fluorides using an intermediate aluminum fluoride compound. The method involves the reaction of low-grade metallic fluorides such as fluorspar with sulfuric acid to produce weak hydrofluoric acid. The weak acid is then reacted with a metallic salt (such as aluminum chloride) to form precipitated aluminum fluoride (AlF.sub.3.3H.sub.2 O). After dewatering, the aluminum fluoride is reacted with strong sulfuric acid to form aluminum sulfate and strong hydrofluoric acid.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1983Date of Patent: October 16, 1984Assignee: Florida Progress CorporationInventors: William W.
