Abstract: A sliding radial bearing assembly for use on a rotating shaft in machinery where a fluid lubricant passes through the assembly to provide a lubricant film between stationary and rotating parts of the assembly. Any gaseous phase is allowed readily to escape from the assembly by providing a lubricant passage which exits close to the shaft, while a substantially non-gaseous film of liquid lubricant is maintained at the bearing interface.
Abstract: A rotating feed distributor for use in connection with rock crushers and other devices. The feed distributor comprises a platform for receiving rocks and a chute having an inlet and outlet wherein the rocks pass through. The feed distributor is designed to reduce wear by evenly distributing rocks into the crusher. The chute is supported and rotated utilizing a motor, drive belts, a sheave structure, thrust bearings and idler wheels. The sheave structure includes a flange and a face which are generally orthogonal to one another. The belts, thrust bearings and idler wheels each engage with the sheave structure.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing shaped articles from a web material is disclosed. The apparatus generally includes a rotary cutting roller, preferably including indicia on an end surface, and an anvil roller operating in cooperating rotational movement with the rotary cutting roller. The apparatus die cuts web material into predetermined shapes. The apparatus further includes at least one sensor for detecting rotational movement of the rotary cutting die by way of the indicia on the end surface of the rotary cutting roller. The information from the at least one sensor and an encoder is processed and translated to drive means to thereby corrects variation in web alignment relative to the rotary cutting roller. The adjustment of the rotary cutting roller of the present invention allows the rotary cutting roller to cut within a high degree of accuracy and precision.
Abstract: A process for the production of dichlorotrifluoroethane is described. The process comprises reacting perchloroethylene with hydrogen fluoride (HP) at elevated temperature in the vapor phase in at least one reactor in the presence of a fluorination catalyst. The process is operated so that 30 weight % or more of the perchloroethylene reactant that is fed to the at least one reactor remains unreacted having passed through the or each reactor. The dichlorotrifluoroethane may be purified and then used as it is or used to prepare pentafluoroethane.

Abstract: The disclosed device provides an improved mounting assembly for securely supporting elongated items against a surface. The assembly provides a mount with an aperture, which interacts with a flexible tie for retaining the items. The aperture contains a tab, which provides frictional force for the flexible tie when it is placed through the aperture in a preassembled state. The device may also include a diaphragm and a mounting stud extending downwardly from the mount. The diaphragm will provide tension and resistance when the mounting stud is inserted into a supporting surface. The stud may also contain staggered or asymmetrical branches that extend from either side of a center section of the stud. Furthermore, the stud may include a pilot branch located at the end of the stud that will be inserted into the supporting surface. The stud may have a spine and rib that assist in securing the device within a surface.
Abstract: A dressing mechanism comprising a first section, a second section, and a third section. The first section and the third section each may each include one side having an adhesive layer. An overlaying, non-adhesive barrier layer may be located between a portion of the adhesive layer and a first or third section. At least one of the first or third sections may further include a plurality of hook or loop members which are arranged to be fastened to corresponding hook or loop members of a hook and loop fastener.
Abstract: An attractant apparatus for use by animals. This apparatus is characterized as having surfaces on which the animal can play, scratch, and rub and a retainer for an animal attractant, such as catnip, used to induce such activity. The retainer may be opened to allow for the introduction and removal of the attractant. This cover is characterized as permitting odors emanating from the catnip to pass through, so as to induce play in the animal. An overlay partially covers the retainer to restrict direct access by the animal to the attractant held within the retainer, but allows partial access near the retainer and an additional surface and area for playing.
Abstract: The present invention provides a process wherein a rotary knife or die, with one or more cutting edges, turns against and in coordination with a corresponding cylinder to create preferably trapezoidal ears. Ear material is slit into two lanes, one for a left side of a diaper and the other for a right side of a diaper. Fastening tapes are applied to both the right and the left ear webs. The ear material is then die cut with a nested pattern on a synchronized vacuum anvil. The resulting discrete ear pieces however, due to the trapezoidal pattern of the ears, alternate between a correct orientation and an incorrect (reversed) orientation. The reversed ear is required to be rotated 180° into the correct orientation such that the ears and associated tape present a left ear and a right ear on the diaper.

Abstract: An implant for supplementing, repairing, or replacing a native heart valve leaflet or leaflets provides a scaffold, which defines a pseudo-annulus. The implant further has at least two struts in generally oppositely spaced apart positions on the scaffold. The scaffold can be placed in an elastically loaded condition in a heart with the struts engaging tissue at or near the leaflet commissures of a heart valve annulus, to reshape the annulus for leaflet coaptation. The implant further provides a neoleaflet element coupled to the scaffold within pseudo-annulus, to provide a one-way valve function.

Abstract: An improved process for the production capacity and feedstock handling flexibility of a simulated moving bed adsorptive separation process by introducing a second feed stream to the adsorbent chamber comprising a feed material of a different concentration of the desired compound than the concentration of the desired compound in the first feed material stream. The introduction of this second feed material stream may be performed at any location on the adsorbent chamber between (i) a transfer point located immediately upstream of the point of the raffinate material stream withdrawal from the adsorbent chamber to (ii) a transfer point located immediately downstream of the point of extract material stream withdrawal from the adsorbent chamber. A recycle stream may be introduced into the system at a location having a concentration similar to the concentration of the first feed material stream.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided to allow for cutting a stretchable first web into segments and securing the segments to a second web. The apparatus includes an infeed rate adjustment apparatus, a tension control device, a cutting apparatus, and means for securing the segments to the second web. The infeed rate adjustment apparatus is sized and configured to adjust the speed of the infeed of the first web to the cutting apparatus to space apart the segments.
Abstract: A pants type disposable undergarment is provided which is equipped with an elasticized side panel. The side panel is elasticized with elastic film. The elastic film is attached to a nonwoven layer. The elasticized nonwoven layer is then split into two sections. A portion of the elasticized nonwoven layer is then ultrasonically cut to the desired configuration. The elastic film does not traverse the crotch region. Also provided are methods for producing such disposable undergarments.
