  • Patent number: 4392303
Abstract: A one-piece razor handle molded from resilient plastic has spaced-apart opposing side walls joined at an intermediate location by a neck. The walls diverge upwardly from the neck into upper portions for gripping a blade cartridge, and extend downwardly to a spacer that extends between the lower portions of the wall. The lower portions of the walls, between the neck and spacer, are resiliently squeezable. The neck acts as a fulcrum so that the upper portions pivot outwardly as the lower portions are squeezed inwardly. A base joins the bottoms of the walls extending past the spacer.

  • Patent number: 4308663
Abstract: A razor handle with a pair of pivot-engaging arms or jaws includes a resilient cartridge latching mechanism formed substantially integrally therewith. The latching mechanism is positioned to retainedly engage a pivotable cartridge in a substantially fixed angular position at one extreme of its pivot range. The cartridge is rotated into and out of the retained engagement with the latch by the user applying, normally manually, a rotational force to the cartridge, which force is of a magnitude greater than normally encountered during shaving.

  • Patent number: 4285125
Abstract: A barber or straight edge razor houses a replaceable blade and includes a body member having a handle and a blade-receiving base portion, a clamp member detachably hinged to the base portion to comprise opposite halves of the razor, and bias apparatus between the razor halves above the hinge for urging the lower portions of the razor halves relatively toward each other to retain the blade therebetween. The blade is releasable by moving the upper portions of the razor halves relatively toward one another. Along a rear gripping portion of the razor halves, one of the halves is structured to assume substantially all of the normal gripping forces so as to prevent inadvertent release of the blade, while the halves include a forward region which is structured to receive special pinching forces to release the blade. Upwardly and rearwardly inclined ridges in the blade-retaining region may be provided to aid in upward seating of the blade as it is moved rearwardly into the razor.

  • Patent number: 4275498
Abstract: A razor blade cartridge pivotally mounted in a razor has a sheet-like blade holder with a slot having upper and lower inner inclined walls to one or both of which a single or twin blades are respectively secured by adhesive. A second slot is provided on the leading side of the leading blade. In a second embodiment, a double edge blade has a second cutting edge extending past the back surface of the blade holder.
