Abstract: The coloring of human hair and other keratinaceous substrates can be carried out efficiently using compositions containing certain N-aryl pyrroles as dye couplers or developers.
Abstract: The conversion of ortho-hydroxylated Mannich bases to the corresponding methylated compounds, e.g., cresols, can be effectively carried out using a novel hydrogenation technique.
Abstract: A process for coloring and/or conditioning hair using modified primary intermediates and/or a modified coupler containing a hydrophobic group or a group containing a cationic site amenable to reaction with an anionic surfactant; novel modified primary intermediates and modified couplers also being disclosed as well as novel synthetic methods for making these compounds.

Abstract: A passive dispenser of volatile liquid fragrance composition from a container thereof. The container has an orifice at its bottommost point and an isotatic hydrophobic polypropylene membrane covering the orifice. The membrane permits passage of the liquid fragrance composition therethrough in the liquid phase in order to enable the composition of the liquid transmitted through the membrane to be substantially the same as that of the liquid within the container.
