    Abstract: An internal cavity cutting tool assembly includes a tool body, a tool hanger, and a bearing assembly. The tool hanger body has a through-bore that is adapted to receive the bearing assembly. The tool body has first and second body portions, each having an arbor bore, a cutting face having a plurality of indexable cutting inserts, and a bearing support surface. The bearing support surface of the second tool body portion is also received by end of the through-bore, such that the bearing support surfaces of the tool body portions oppose each other within tool hanger body. An arbor drive shaft and a support are operatively inserted though openings in a workpiece and through the arbor bore of the tool body. The arbor drive is retained in a milling device to operatively rotate the tool body assembly while precisely locating the tool hanger assembly, thereby sweeping the cutting inserts against the portions of the workpiece to be cut.

    Abstract: An H bridge regulating system for driving an electric load includes a linear output stage and switch mode output stage connected to opposite ends of the load. The linear output stage has a linear mode amplifier and a feedback circuit, and its amplifier generates a first output signal tied to one end of the load. This output voltage is passed through a conditioning resistor to an inverting input of the linear mode amplifier. The switch mode output stage has a switch mode amplifier and a feedback circuit, and its amplifier generates a second output signal tied to the other end of the load. Its voltage signal is passed through a second conditioning resistor to an inverting input of the switch mode amplifier. Other feedback circuit elements are also provided to create three distinct regions of operations for each of the amplifiers.

    Abstract: Self-contained closed-loop cooling systems and related methods for rapidly cooling individual beverage containers of different sizes to a suitable target temperature, in the range of 35° F. to 50° F. Each system includes a chiller, a coolant circuit with a hyper-chilled supply reservoir, a refrigerant circuit for cooling the reservoir, and an electronic controller to operate the system upon operator command. The chiller is preferably formed like a barrel, with a cylindrical array of hollow chill elements arranged about a cylindrical area into which a beverage container, such as beverage bottle or can is placed. Then, very cold coolant from the coolant supply is pumped through the array of chill elements to rapidly cool the beverage container, which makes physical contact with the hyper-chilled elements, which are thus excellent heat absorbers. The chill elements are preferably separated from one another by keystone spacers, and are flexibly held in place with a plurality of coil springs.

    Abstract: An alarm system for detecting unauthorized removal of a wheel assembly or wheel accessory from the vehicle includes a sensor having a secured state and an unsecured state. The sensor is in the secured state when the wheel assembly or accessory is installed on the vehicle and in the unsecured state when it is removed from the vehicle. An alarm transmitter is connected to the sensor and alters a radio frequency (RF) alarm signal when the sensor changes from the secured state to the unsecured state. A receiver, located remotely from the alarm transmitter, receives the RF alarm signal and generates an alarm triggering signal in response thereto. The sensor and alarm transmitter are preferably part of a sensing assembly which includes a fastener for connecting the sensing assembly to a wheel lug or other wheel part. The sensing assembly includes a housing with a cavity for enclosing the sensor and the alarm transmitter. The sensor may be a pressure switch, an electronic switch or other sensing device.

Structures are disclosed which include a plurality of such programmable devices in one or more separately programmable planes, each with its own addressing means.

    Abstract: A new and improved thin film field effect transistor and method provides such a transistor having increased operating frequencies and higher output currents. The transistor includes a gate electrode having a non-coplanar surface with respect to the substrate and a deposited semiconductor material overlying the gate electrode to form a current conductor channel between a source and drain. The length of the current conduction channel is determined by the thickness of the gate electrode which can be accurately controlled. As a result, short channel lengths are possible without high precision photolithography for high output currents and fast operating speeds. Further, a gate insulator is disposed between the gate and the deposited semiconductor. The gate insulator, which can be a gate oxide, can be annealed prior to the deposition of the deposited semiconductor to provide enhanced field effect mobilities. This further increases the transistor output currents and operating speeds.

    Abstract: Circuit assemblies are disclosed which include a supporting substrate, a plurality of conductive lines supported on the substrate and a deposited phase-change material capable of an energy induced phase change from an initially high resistance state to a relatively low resistance state placed in electrical contact with the conductive lines. The assemblies also include contact receiving means connected to the conductive lines at preselected discrete locations to receive externally applied contact means, such as electric probes, for applying voltages across selected portions of the conductive lines. The application of such voltages can induce a phase change in portions of the phase-change material which bridge breaks in the conductive lines of such circuit subassemblies, changing such portions from their high resistance state to their low resistance state, thereby forming electrically shunting conductive paths around such open circuits. There are also disclosed methods of making such circuit assemblies.

The insulative layer is formed in between the source and drain regions. A deposited semiconductor overlies the non-coplanar surface to form a current conduction channel between the drain and source. A gate insulator and gate electrode overly at least a portion of the deposited semiconductor adjacent thereto. The length of the current conduction channel is determined by the thickness of the insulative layer and therefore can be made short without precision photolithography. The non-coplanar surface can be formed by utilizing a dry process to simultaneously etch through several layers in a continuous one-step process. A second dielectric layer may be formed above the three previous layers.

    Abstract: A system is disclosed which includes a transmissive liquid crystal display of the type which may display a line of characters or symbols at a time, or which may display only a raster line in combination with an energy source and a controllable and transportable medium. The medium is exposed by energy from the source of energy passing through the liquid crystal display which acts as a mask for the source of energy. The liquid crystal display may be set by electrical signals manually generated such as by a keyboard or by signals automatically generated by use of other electronic equipment. In one alternate embodiment of the invention a large area two-dimensional liquid crystal display is used as a mask. In another embodiment of the invention a liquid crystal display is used as a mask for the purpose of exposing a photoconductive drum of the type used in xerography. A reflective liquid crystal display is disclosed in yet another embodiment of the invention.

The cells have a highly non-conductive state settable and substantially non-resettable into a highly conductive state. The cells have a resistance of 10,000 ohms or more in the non-conductive state which are settable into the conductive state by a threshold voltage of 20 volts or less, a current of 25 milliamps or less, for 1000 microseconds or less. The cells in the conductive state have a resistance of 500 ohms or less. The cells have a maximum permittable processing temperature of 200.degree. centigrade or more and a storage temperature of 175.degree. centigrade or more. The cells can be formed from chalcogenide elements, such as germanium tellurium and selenium or combination thereof. The cells also can be formed from tetrahedral elements, such as silicon, germanium and carbon or combinations thereof.
