  • Patent number: 8285269
Abstract: A mobile telecommunication network monitors short messages and multimedia messages sent to non-existent mobile subscribers and selectively treats such messages as if sent to an existent recipient. The network then provides the sender with ordinary signaling related to successful message delivery so as to form traps to attract and detect messages such as spam messages. Spam messages are detectable as statistically significant presence of identical or sufficiently similar messages in a sufficiently large subset of unused subscriber numbers being assigned as traps for spam messages. The treatment of messages addressed to numbers assigned to trap use can further model normal usage of mobile subscriptions so as to inhibit simple determination of subscriber numbers that are used for trapping spam messages.

  • Patent number: 8280373
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for a terminal device control server. The terminal device control server collecting, storing and providing information (i.e. device intelligence) relating to a plurality of terminal devices in a mobile communication network. A policy based control mechanism can be used in conjunction with one or more authorization lists and the device intelligence to respond to requests from various elements in the network to allow or deny access to the network or to services within the network to specific terminal devices. The device intelligence can alternatively be used to improve the effectiveness of service offerings in the network by providing information associated with a specific terminal device to other elements that adapt their services offerings and interactions to the capabilities of the specific terminal devices.

  • Patent number: 8233624
Abstract: A Method and a terminal intended for securing information in a local memory device which is couplable to a terminal having a data link interface. At the terminal, the method comprises the following steps. The method divides 801 original data included in the information to be secured, a division of the original data resulting in a first portion and a second portion. The method stores 802 the first portion in the local memory device and sends 803 the second portion via the data link interface for storage in a remote memory device. The method includes obtaining 804 an authorized read request targeted to the original data and responsive to the authorized read request reconstructs the original data. In more detail, the method retrieves 805 via the data link interface the second portion and combines 806 the second portion and the first portion which was stored in the local memory device.

  • Patent number: 8203568
Abstract: A centralised server in a bank (50) of servers runs a program for use by a user at a remote terminal (52, 56, 58). In the server, a plurality of programs share a GPU and instructions are used to cause the GPU to store the frames representing graphics of different programs at different memory locations. The frames are compressed and transmitted to remote terminals. Optionally the invention also allows for GPU time slice allocation, such that the GPU completes rendering the frame of one program before it renders the frame of another program. Optionally the invention also allows delivering false information about the capabilities of the GPU to the programs.

  • Patent number: 8121147
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for context-sensitive multimedia message service (MMS) response. The provision of a response to a MMS UA originated MMS message (e.g. requesting to send a multimedia message (MM)) that is context-sensitive allows the network operator/service provider to provide value-added and potentially revenue generating content in the response. The content of the response can be context-sensitive based on one or more context parameters. The context parameters can be based on any of the information elements in the MMS UA originated MMS message, on fields in an associated MM, inputs provided by other external systems (e.g., accounting, presence and location information) and combinations thereof.

  • Patent number: 8074875
Abstract: The invention is especially intended for visually impaired persons who are not able to read text printed on products or product containers. With the invented method at least a part of a product description, which corresponds to a bar code read and which is fetched from a product information database, is stored in at least one memory accessible to the terminal. After this, in response to a command ordered by a user of the terminal, the RFID identifier attached to the terminal is read and the product description is presented in speech format so that the information readable in the memory and the RFID identifier is utilized in the presentation. The terminal is preferably a mobile station equipped with a speech synthesizer. A visually impaired person can point with the terminal to one or more products and listen via an audio system of the terminal to the product descriptions related to them. When RFID identifiers are attached to the product, the products need to be pointed to as precisely when reading bar codes.

  • Patent number: 8022595
Abstract: A composite acoustic wave device provides improved protection from environmental factors while maintaining high electrical characteristics and dynamic range is provided. The device comprises a rigid protector plate having high quality acoustical characteristics and a thickness which is a multiple of half wavelength of the resonant frequency. A piezoelectric plate is coupled to the protector plate, is supported therefrom, and forms an energy interface therewith. The piezoelectric and protector plates are dimensioned such that a wave of resonant frequency traveling between the excitation face and the loaded/sensing face, forms a substantially continuous-phase wave, at substantially peak amplitude, at the energy interface. By doing so the device decouples the electrical thickness of the wave device from the mechanical thickness thereof.

  • Patent number: 7878044
Abstract: A system and a method for providing information on two of the three variables, density (?), viscosity (?), and elastic modulus (c) of a fluid, such that independent knowledge of one variable allows the remaining two variables to be measured by a single sensor. The present invention relies on the interaction of a predominantly shear horizontal acoustic wave device (“quasi-shear-horizontal”) with the fluid, so as to measure subtle differences in the interaction of two or more acoustic resonance states or waveguide modes of a multi-mode resonator or waveguide, and to derive the desired fluid characteristics therefrom. The most preferred embodiment is a dual-mode coupled resonator filter geometry with one resonant mode having a high degree of symmetry and the other having a high degree of anti-symmetry.
