Abstract: Compositions, medicaments, and methods for the promotion of hair growth are disclosed. These compositions and medicaments are comprised of either local anesthetics of the secondary or tertiary amino type and/or niacin. The preferred secondary and tertiary amino compounds include those which are esters of para-aminobenzoic acid, esters of benzoic acid, esters of meta-amino benzoic acid, amides, ethers, and ketones. The preferred compositions and medicaments include either procaine hydrochloride or niacin or procaine hydrochloride and niacin in a non-sulfur-containing carrier. The disclosed compositions and medicaments may be topically applied to a scalp in need thereof by an eyedropper or other suitable means. An improved embodiment of this application adds minoxidil. Another improved embodiment administers Propecia™ orally while the anesthetic (e.g., procaine hydrochloride) and niacin are administered topically.
Abstract: A prosthesis for femur replacement surgery has a stem which is received in the femur. The stem has a blind bore formed at an angle in the upper portion. A modular neck assembly is received in the blind bore. The neck assembly is formed at a desired angle with respect to the vertical axis of the stem. The neck assembly is keyed to the bore to obtain a desired degree of anteversion and offset by a desired rotation of the neck assembly within the bore. A unitary sleeve may be inserted in a canal in the femur to receive the stem and provide circumferential movement of the prosthesis within the femur canal. A porous coating is formed on the outer surface of the stem and the sleeve.
Abstract: High concentration chlorine dioxide gel compositions are prepared for disinfectant, deodorizing and for like uses. The preferred gel compositions are prepared from xanthan, guar or like gums.

Abstract: Ascorbic acid or one of its isomers, such as erythorbic acid is added in sufficient quantities to a chlorite-containing solution to rid the solution of chlorite. Sufficient ascorbic acid is added to the chlorite-containing solution to convert the chlorite to chloride. Industrial processes employing this process are disclosed.
Abstract: A fishing lure having disposed therein a needle for puncturing the diaphragm on a tube of fish attractant. The tube of fish attractant has a check-valve at the end opposite the diaphragm. In use, the diaphragm is punctured and the lure is ready for use. A kit of color-coded tubes (vials) of attractant is to be supplied for use with fishing lures.
