Patent number: 7796292Abstract: A system and method is provided for generating customized documents, such as labels, in a client-server computing environment. A server is communicably accessed by a client, which then retrieves a dynamic link library module configured for use by a client-based application. The client also retrieves an ActiveX control module configured for controlling operational aspects of the application; and retrieves a document structure file. The application generates a document using the dynamic link library and the label structure file. A user may then modify the document using the ActiveX control module, and print the document.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2003Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: Integrated Software Design, Inc.Inventors: Ramin Khoshatefeh, Pavel A. Patent number: 7667461Abstract: A spectroscopic sample analysis apparatus includes an actively controlled, direct contact heat exchanger in serial fluid communication with a spectroscopic analyzer, and a controller communicably coupled to the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is disposed downstream of a fluid handler in the form of a stream selection unit (SSU), a solvent/standard recirculation unit (SRU), and/or an auto-sampling unit (ASU). The SSU selectively couples individual stream inputs to an output port. The SRU includes a solvent/standard reservoir, and selectively couples output ports to the heat exchanger, and returns the solvent/standard sample to the reservoirs. The ASU includes a sample reservoir having a sample transfer pathway with a plurality of orifices disposed at spaced locations along a length thereof. The controller selectively actuates the fluid handler, enabling sample to flow therethrough to the heat exchanger, and actuates the heat exchanger to maintain the sample at a predetermined temperature.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2007Date of Patent: February 23, 2010Assignee: Invensys Systems, Inc.Inventors: W. Marcus Trygstad, Russell Jackson, Bruce A. Keen

Patent number: 7557470Abstract: A MEMS actuator includes a coil stack in the form of microfabricated, electrically conductive first and second superposed layers. A magnet array is superposed in magnetic communication with the coil stack, with first and second coils being selectively, electrically actuatable to generate relative movement between the coil stack and the magnet array both in-plane and out-of-plane. In various embodiments, a plurality of the actuators are integrally coupled to a microfabricated compliant mechanism to provide a high bandwidth, six degree of freedom nanopositioner.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2007Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Martin L. Culpepper, Dariusz Golda

Patent number: 7516023Abstract: A modular system and method is provided for enabling remote configuring and ordering of flowmeters in a client-server environment. The system includes a meter selection module configured to enable a user to select from a plurality of flowmeter types. A process data module receives process data from a client and a fluid selection module coupled to the process module is configured to receive a process fluid selection and to calculate properties thereof. A sizing module generates parameters of at least one sized flowmeter, sized in accordance with the received process data. A material selection module provides a list of materials from which the sized flowmeter may be fabricated, and a fluid rating module rates compatibility of the various materials with the process fluid selection. A results module is configured to generate data corresponding to expected performance of the sized flowmeter.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2006Date of Patent: April 7, 2009Assignee: Invensys Systems, Inc.Inventors: David A. Ferreira, Wade M. Mattar

Patent number: 7513343Abstract: A method and circuit is provided for controlling the flow rate of the hydraulic oil in the brake cooling system of a vehicle, that basically consists of the following steps: delivery of the hydraulic oil to a proportioning valve (VP) at a constant flow rate; controlled splitting of the flow rate of the hydraulic oil coming out of the proportioning valve (VP) and directed towards the hydraulic brake cooling circuit to avoid exceeding a maximum oil pressure value in the hydraulic circuit, achieved by controlling the oil temperature in the hydraulic circuit and the temperature of an engine coolant.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2004Date of Patent: April 7, 2009Assignee: Astra Veicoli Industriali S.p.A.Inventor: Claudio Catalano

Patent number: 7494085Abstract: A device for reeling semi-finished rolled products comprises two sections (1, 2) connected together to form an articulated arm that guides the product (BL) coming out of a rolling mill onto the reel that is being wound. The second section (2), which is closer to the reel, during winding, maintains its own inclination constantly equal to the inclination of the turns of the reel. This enables a considerable reduction of the gap between the adjacent turns and prevention of any overlapping (i.e., climbing on top of one another) between the turns already wound and the turns being distributed on the same layer. Reels that are more compact and have a more precise geometry are thus obtained. Also described is a device (12) for guiding the rolled product (BL) arriving on the reel with greater precision.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2004Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.p.A.Inventors: Giuseppe Bordignon, Andrea De Luca, Alfredo Poloni

Patent number: 7160603Abstract: Provided are methods of preparing an article in which a microporous layer is coated on a temporary carrier substrate and a substrate is then laminated to the microporous layer, prior to removing the temporary carrier substrate from the microporous layer. The microporous layer comprises one or more microporous xerogel layers. Optionally, the microporous layer assembly may comprise one or more non-microporous coating layers which are in contact with at least one of the microporous xerogel layers, and one of the non-microporous coating layers may be coated on the temporary carrier substrate prior to coating the microporous layer. Also provided are articles, such as electrochemical cells, capacitors, fuel cells, ink jet ink printing media, and filtration media, prepared by such methods.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2002Date of Patent: January 9, 2007Assignee: Sion Power CorporationInventor: Steven A. Patent number: 6876977Abstract: A computer implemented method is provided for conducting business-to-business electronic commerce over the Internet. The method includes the step of providing a website that enables electronic communication with users, and including on the website an electronic shopping basket which is selectively actuatable into various states. An additional step includes enabling two or more remote users to simultaneously access the shopping basket. Each of the users is assigned one or more hierarchically distinct abilities to affect the state of the shopping basket, so that the users are permitted to simultaneously view the status of the shopping basket and sequentially affect the state of the shopping basket. This enables various actions in the purchasing process to be accomplished by various individuals. These abilities to affect the state of the basket may also include providing the users with various selected levels of access to the basket, i.e., to prevent unauthorized purchases.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2000Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: The Foxboro CompanyInventor: Michael A.
