  • Patent number: 4624342
Abstract: A side rail system for interconnecting layered sections of elongated scaffold staging with the sections respectively spanning pairs of opposing upper and lower support arms of pump jacks which respectively ride on spaced apart pump jack poles. The side rail system includes upright posts which are spaced along the staging. A pair of rods are associated with each of the posts. The rods confrontingly project from the respective staging sections. The posts are pivotally coupled to the rods and are secured to the rods by quick adjust pins to prevent separation of the rods and posts. A mid-rail as well as a toe board can be interconnected between the rails. An end rail system can also be included. The scaffolding arrangement can be used exteriorly with a brace onto a wall. It can also be used interiorly between roof and floor with appropriate height adjustment arrangement provided.

  • Patent number: 4274625
Abstract: An exercising apparatus having a base member with a roller assembly positioned on the surface of the base member. The roller assembly is formed of an array of discrete rollers having a series of parallel axles with closely spaced rollers mounted on the axles for individual rotation and supported by support bars. A frame upwardly extends from the base member and defines an enclosed exercising area. The frame includes both front and rear handle bars. The base member can be adjustably positioned at a variable incline with respect to the support surface on which it rests. The exercising apparatus can be used for walking, jogging, as well as exercising of the arms and shoulders and permits both uphill and downhill exercising.

  • Patent number: 4163354
Abstract: A machine is disclosed for filling capsules having first and second sections that are telescoped within each other and which define an enclosed volume in the assembled condition. At least one and preferably a plurality of capsule filling stations are provided in a rotatable table. Each capsule filling station includes a first portion that is rigidly fixed to the table within a bore formed therein. The first portion receives the capsule section having the smaller transverse dimension. A second portion of the capsule filling station is D-shaped and is positioned within the same bore as the first portion. The second portion is selectively rotatable and is arranged to receive the capsule section having the larger transverse dimension.

  • Patent number: 4123087
Abstract: A typing guide formed of a single backing sheet having footnote indicating indicia printed on the front surface of the backing sheet and footnote samples printed on the back surface of the backing sheet. The footnote indicating indicia provide a dual method of determining footnote spacing. The indicia include a column of numerals printed adjacent one side of the backing sheet and progressively increasing down the column. The numerals are spaced apart from each other a distance equal to the line spacing of a typewriter platen. These numerals are used for accurate determination of footnote spacing. Additionally, several marks are printed in vertical sequence adjacent to the bottom portion of the column of numerals with the marks corresponding to preselected ones of the numerals. The marks are numerically identified by a progressively increasing sequence of numbers commencing from the lowermost mark. These marks are used for a second and more simplified method of footnote spacing.

  • Patent number: 4107850
Abstract: A mounting gauge for measuring the size of a stone mounting including a support assembly having a plurality of individual arms extending from the support assembly. A disk like foot is mounted at the end of each of the arms and is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of each arm. The feet are successively larger in diameter. The support assembly can be a circular member, a rectangular member, or can be of other shapes. Also, it can include a linear array of body portions pivotally positioned on a post and including a positioning assembly whereby the body portions can be rotated about a post and can be locked in either of two diametrically opposed positions. The individual arms can be made retractable permitting the selection of a single arm for measurement. Gauging bores can also be included for measuring the size of the stone with the diameter of the bores being successively larger and corresponding to the diameter of the disk like feet.

  • Patent number: 4072577
Abstract: The present invention is directed to miniaturized, microbiological culture dishes, for example in the order of approximately 5 mm. in diameter and 5 mm. in depth, as well as a novel method and apparatus for cultivating the growth of bacteria. The culture dishes each contain a prepackaged culture medium and a sealed cover. In one embodiment the culture dishes are formed in an array on a frangible strip. The covers are removable to permit inoculation of the culture medium and are replaceable in a first condition to permit safe transport thereof. During incubation the covers are placed in a second condition to facilitate an indirect flow of air to the inoculated culture medium without allowing cross contamination between adjacent culture dishes. Several different dispensers are disclosed for transporting a plurality of culture dishes both before and after inoculation of the culture medium therein.

  • Patent number: 3989147
Abstract: A bulk cement storage system which includes storage units for storing the cement, as well as devices for transporting the cement to the storage units and removing the cement from the storage units. The storage units include a circular base member with a hole in its center which slopes inward at a shallow angle toward the hole. A number of porous sections are formed in the base member to permit a stream of compressed air to pass through the porous sections into the stored cement. A generally circular shaped dome covers the base member to provide environmental protection for the storage area. The cement is stored as a free standing pile on the base member within the storage area. The compressed air causes the cement to develop flow characteristics similar to a liquid, so that the cement can be removed from the storage bin utilizing a pneumatic conveying system.

  • Patent number: 3950098
Abstract: The invention describes a vehicle safety device which gives a visual indication to a driver of one vehicle when the distance between his vehicle and another vehicle is safe, unsafe, or where caution must be used for the speed at which he is driving. The device utilizes a plurality of different sized warning areas, each of which is assigned to a particular speed at which a warning is to be provided. The size of the area is larger for faster speeds and is smaller for slower speeds. In a first embodiment, the areas are illuminated windows which are assigned to particular speeds. If a particular window can be seen then at the assigned speed, the distance is too close. At a safe distance the window will merge with the windows assigned to slower speeds. In a second embodiment, the warning areas are darkened areas and for a particular speed, if the corresponding dark area can be seen, the distance is too close. At a safe distance, the darkened area will tend to disappear into the background.
