Abstract: A nighttime garment to be worn by a person for concealing an ostomy pouch used by the person, the garment including a decorative wrap-around skirt-like member having an inner pocket for receiving the ostomy pouch for concealment behind the skirt-like member, and a securing arrangement enabling adjustment of the skirt-like member for waist size and for location of the ostomy pouch.
Abstract: A plasticating extruder screw conveyor includes multiple primary flights and corresponding multiple secondary flights defining multiple channels on the screw conveyor arranged about the longitudinal axis of the screw conveyor such that radial components of forces between the screw conveyor and unplasticated material located in the channels are substantially balanced so as to reduce to a minimum any resultant radial force upon the screw conveyor and any concomitant lateral deflection of the screw conveyor, thereby reducing or eliminating excessive vibration, wear or galling of the screw conveyor.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for decorating the surface of an article having a non-circular cross-sectional configuration in which the article is positioned relative to an applicator to maintain the proper relative position and appropriate relative velocity for the application of a decorating medium throughout a decorating cycle in accordance with information pertaining to the cross-sectional configuration of the article and obtained from the surface contour of the article itself.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a torsion tube apparatus for making on-line measurements of the viscosity and elasticity of a fluid. The apparatus includes a housing member, an outer cylinder having one end rotatably mounted with respect to the housing member, and a motor for rotating this outer cylinder. An elongated torsion tube is mounted concentrically within and spaced from the outer cylinder and has one end fixed to the housing member, with its other end freely disposed within the cylinder for torsional movement with respect to the fixed end. Therefore, an annular void is defined between the tube and cylinder. Fluid may be introduced through a conduit into the interior of the cylinder for flow therethrough and discharge therefrom, such that rotating motion of the fluid caused by rotation of the cylinder exerts a torsional force directly on the outer surface of the tube. A torsion indicating shaft extends concentrically through the tube, having its one end fixed to the free end of the tube.
Abstract: A carrying bag convertible to a flat mat includes a rectangular body member of flexible foldable material and an arrangement of fold lines and fasteners which enables the body member to be used alternately as a flat mat or a relatively compact, compartmented carrying bag, the arrangement further allowing selective joining of a plurality of such body members, when in the flat mat configuration, to establish an integral, extended flat mat assembly.
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus includes a mop with a rotatable wiper, a pail having a reservoir for cleaning liquid, and a motor-driven wringer mounted upon the pail for receiving and rotating the wiper of the mop at relatively high speed to extract cleaning liquid together with entrained dirt and other matter from the wiper and return the extracted liquid to the reservoir.
Abstract: A device for holding a mooring line in position relative to a boat dock for facilitating the mooring of a boat at the dock includes a mounting member to be affixed to a pile or other vertical surface of the dock structure and a flexible rod carrying a mooring line holder and journalled in the mounting member for swinging movement in a horizontal plane between two fixed positions, one of which positions facilitates the pick-up of the mooring line from the holder when the boat approaches a moored location and the other of which positions facilitates the placement of the mooring line in the holder when the boat is in the moored location.
Abstract: A rebound ball game in which a ball is returned between opposed players within a prescribed court divided by a rebound apparatus having rebound faces and a specified return area, the rebound faces being angled for rebound of the ball toward the respective players, and the return area being located above the rebound faces for defining the appropriate area through which the ball is to be passed between the opposed players, the court having limited trapezoidal playing areas at each side of the rebound apparatus.
Abstract: Process and apparatus in which a hydrocarbon-bearing well formation, penetrated by a borehole, is treated with apparatus located outside the well by injecting gases into the well to elevate the pressure and temperature within the well formation so as to stimulate the formation through the effects of thermal stress and high pressure gas flow. The apparatus includes a gas generator of the type in which a reactant, such as hydrogen peroxide, is decomposed by a catalyst to form high temperature decomposition gases, such as steam and oxygen, and an air compressor for injecting compressed air into the well to aid in raising the pressure within the well formation so as to stimulate the formation, thereby increasing the permeability of the formation and the subsequent flow of fluids from the formation into the well after stimulation.
Abstract: A dental scaler in which a scaling tool is coupled to a relatively rigid inner tubular member supported within an outer housing for vibration in response to relatively high speed rotation of a thin-walled tubular element located within an inner chamber in the inner tubular member and rotated by the passage of air, under pressure, through the inner chamber.
Abstract: A universal pacifier case provides a sanitary enclosure for baby pacifiers of the type having a nipple, a guard flange and a handle, the pacifier case including a housing fully enclosing the nipple and the guard flange, with the handle projecting out of the housing, the housing having a pair of wall members hinged together for opening and closing the housing about the pacifier, the wall members including interengaging dust-sealing members along the peripheral edges of the wall members and an aperture in the wall members having a configuration generally complementary to the handle of the pacifier so as essentially to seal the pacifier within the housing when the housing is closed about the pacifier.
Abstract: A training aid for use in effectively training dogs, cats and other pets includes a housing mounted to a suitable surface, and a spring plate hinged to the housing such that the spring plate is selectively placed by the pet trainer in a position projecting from the housing so as to be movable by the pet or the trainer to cause an attached bell to sound, the spring plate also having an attached pull-ring for assisting the pet in sounding the bell when it has a need or desire for a particular activity, a raised retaining lip for retaining treats, a combination spring clip and cleat for holding a folded pet leash, and a writing insert received within the housing and having a display viewable by the trainer or another person when the spring plate is in the projecting position for displaying the particular activity signified by the sounding of the bell.
Abstract: An apparatus for producing and dispensing an aerated frozen confection in which a pump is mounted in the liquid ingredients reservoir of the apparatus and operates to pump a mixture of air and liquid ingredients, in selected proportions, to the freezer compartment of the apparatus. The pump itself is responsive to pressure within the freezer compartment to regulate the volume of mixture supplied to the freezer compartment by the pump for enabling automatic replenishment of the aerated mix in the freezer compartment. The pump includes a plunger projecting into the freezer compartment and driven by a cam which rotates with an agitator in the freezer compartment to move the plunger against the bias of a spring in the pump so as to reciprocate the plunger until the pressure within the compartment is great enough to move the plunger away from the cam, against the bias of the spring, thereby discontinuing the supply of mix to the freezer compartment.
Abstract: A control valve assembly for use in a one-pipe steam heating system in which the passage of steam to each radiator in the system and the return of condensate from each radiator is controlled by individual valve assemblies at each radiator, the valve assemblies being temperature responsive for the regulation of heat provided at each radiator location. Each valve assembly includes a temperature-responsive valve arrangement for controlling the admission of steam to the radiator through a supply pipe and a pressure-responsive valve arrangement for enabling the return of condensate through the same pipe, the entire assembly being compatible with existing fittings for the ready replacement of conventional radiator valves.
