  • Patent number: 8228192
Abstract: A security device for attachment to an article to deter theft of the article has a housing containing an alarm system including an audible alarm with a defeat mechanism having a two-part connector that attaches to both a cable and a locking mechanism. The connector includes a mechanical fuse (e.g., two-step ferrule holder) that provides defeat prevention of the alarm device. The locked device alarms if pulled too hard from twisting the cable without releasing the primary lock. The connector is preferably shaped as a generally elliptic cylindrical bayonet having an oval transverse cross-section and a truncated oblique cone-shaped distal end. This enables the plug to be inserted into a locking channel of the locking mechanism in either of two directions facilitating the locking of the attached cable about an article of merchandise.

  • Patent number: 8221039
Abstract: Latching device (50) for latching thereto a boat coupling part (24) of a boat (10) on a body of water (28) by moving the boat up a ramp. Latching device (50) has a latching element (54) mounted for pivotal movement such that it is engaged by said boat coupling part (24) when the boat is moved up the incline, to pivot the latching element (54) to a position at which the boat coupling part (24) can pass a catch part (85) of the latching element (54). After passage of the boat coupling part (24) past the catch part (85), the latching element (54) reversely pivots to allow capture of said boat coupling part (24) by said catch part (85), under reverse movement of the boat (10).

  • Patent number: 8210020
Abstract: A hot stretch wrap forming die typically includes a rigid backing section, a series of spaced ribs extending forward from the backing section, and an elongated face sheet secured to the ribs forward of the backing section with a convex forward-facing die face. The ribs elastically deflect during thermal expansion of the face sheet when a heated metal bar is forced against the die face so that the metal bar transfers heat to the face sheet. The die typically includes stiff ribs secured to the backing section and the face sheet which provide substantially fixed points for the face sheet during its thermal expansion. The face sheet may include several face sheet segments which together form the die face. The face sheet may also include contour plates which form respective portions of the die face and which may be used to adjust the specific contour of the die face.

  • Patent number: 8197304
Abstract: A device for sharpening a tool blade has a pair of spaced guide rails and a bracket for mounting a sharpening stone on the guide rails. A carriage is slidably supported on the guide rails and has a pair of spaced slide plates adjustably supporting a blade angle plate thereon. A clamp mechanism secures the tool blade on the angle plate which is secured in an adjusted position for forming a primary angle on the blade cutting edge by reciprocal movement of the carriage along the guide rails. The angle plate and attached tool blade are readjusted on the carriage for subsequently forming a secondary angle on the cutting edge of the tool blade. Printed indicia adjacent a plurality of adjustment holes formed in the slide plates set the primary and secondary angles of the cutting edge. Mating surfaces on the carriage and guide rails set the amount of material to be removed from the blade during reciprocal movement along an abrasive sharpening material.

  • Patent number: 8196641
Abstract: A casting furnace for manufacturing a metal casting comprises an interior chamber and a secondary chamber through which the metal casting passes from the interior chamber into external atmosphere. A seal along the secondary chamber surrounds and seals against the metal casting to separate the interior chamber from the external atmosphere in a manner which allows for an extended period of continuous casting. A force producing mechanism typically forces the seal against the metal casting. Multiple seals may be used sequentially to increase the duration of the sealing capability and the continuous casting process.

  • Patent number: 8191957
Abstract: A flatbed trailer includes first, second and third flatbed sections whereby the first and second sections are joinable in an extendable configuration and the first and third sections are joinable in an alternate and typically standard configuration. The trailer can be switched between the extendable and alternate configuration within a fairly short time. The invention thus eliminates the need for both a standard extendable trailer and a separate non-extendable trailer, and provides the ability to use the alternate configuration when the extendable configuration is not necessary in order to substantially reduce the weight which would otherwise be involved with the use of the extendable configuration.
