Abstract: Apparatus for the manufacturing of prestressed reinforced concrete railroad ties and the like in which the apparatus consists of an elongated spine or compression member which has no foundation but rather is independent of the supporting surface upon which it rests. In one version of the apparatus two bridge members confront the opposite ends of the spine and permanent tension resisting members pass beneath the spine from end to end of the spine and are attached to the lower ends of the bridge members. In another version two structural members are embedded in the concrete of the spine and protrude to provide terminal members.

Abstract: A skishoe having a central, downwardly concave arch portion, an upwardly concave toe portion, an upwardly concave heel portion, and a snow gripping blade. The snow gripping blade is pivotable about an axis lying within the camber of the arch portion and extending transversely of the skishoe. A first adjustable stop is provided for limiting the angular deflection of the gripper blade from its fully retracted position in the camber. A second adjustable blade stop is provided for limiting the retraction of the blade into the camber, and a spring is provided for resiliently biasing the blade toward the first adjustable blade stop. Electric drive motors are provided for selectively positioning said stops. Manually operated control means, attached to the body of the user, are provided for controlling said electric drive motors.
Abstract: A downcrowdable telescopic augering apparatus including a vehicle having a boom which carries a cradle in which a kelly tube is slidably mounted and on which a kelly winch and a service winch are mounted. A winch management system oversees the operation of said winches to prevent the kelly cable and the service cable from being broken or becoming slack when the kelly tube moves with respect to the cradle. A bottomhole kelly cable arresting system arrests the rotation of the drum of the kelly winch when the kelly cable is slack.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for fusing high-voltage electrical systems including fuse holding dry wells each of which includes a metallic outer wall, a fuse mount and a chimney tube located between the outer wall and a fuse in the mount. The dry wells may be mounted completely within an associated switchgear tank, partially within and partially without the associated tank, on the outer surface of the tank, or on structural means other than a switchgear tank.
Abstract: An untippable safety vase for use in connection with umbrella tables is disclosed, which vase is comprised of a central, generally cylindrical receptacle portion adapted to fit loosely in the umbrella pole receiving aperture of an umbrella table, and a planar flange joined to and projecting outwardly from said central receptacle portion.
Abstract: Simulated decorative architectural columns comprising an axial member and a jacket surrounding the axial member. The jacket is comprised of a plurality of elongated rigid foam material members of truncated wedge-shaped cross-section, or jacket wedges. After the jacket is assembled around the axial member the outer surface of the jacket is sanded to provide a smooth surface, and the smooth surface is provided with an overcoating resembling a cut surface of stone. Groups of jacket wedges are fabricated from corresponding blanks by means of a hot-wire foam cutting machine. Each blank is first subdivided into a lower portion and an upper portion by a parting surface the profile of which is substantially identical to the intended profile of the finished column. The lower or relievo portion of the blank is then subdivided into a plurality of wedge members by a series of oblique cuts each extending from end to end of the lower portion of the blank.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus useful as a secondary level assaying tool for qualitative and quantitative confirmation of results obtained by primary separation techniques and their correlation with a specific function or property of the tested sample. An apparatus is useful for the post-transfer development assaying on the solid support of the biological samples already assayed by standard separation techniques such as blotting or chromatography.

Abstract: Compact recording disc storage carousels each of which includes at least two circular platforms separated by fixed vertical pillars and having therebetween a pair of movable pillars each of which is so juxtaposed to a pair of said fixed pillars as to be capable of maintaining an array of compact recording disc cases between them in face-to-face contacting relationship, and a backstop arrangement capable of preventing said compact recording disc cases of said array from passing so far between said platforms that their spines are spaced from the peripheries of the lower ones of said platforms by more than a predetermined distance.
Abstract: Methods and devices for shaping garment collars and conveying discount coupons and other advertising media are disclosed in which the collar shaping devices consist of a single piece of paperboard or other resiliently flexible material, the paperboard being divided by elongated cuts into a tongue projecting from a spine and fingers also projecting outward from the spine and lying on both sides of the tongue.
Abstract: A lever action archery bow is disclosed which includes a central riser and a pair of working limbs attached to each end of the central riser. A rocking recurve lever is pivotably mounted at the outer end of each limb, and the bowstring is secured to the outer ends of the recurve levers in the conventional manner. Each recurve lever is a lever of the first class the fulcrum of which is mounted adjacent the outer end of its associated limb, and anchors for draw force transfer cables are pivotably attached to each recurve lever at its end remote from the end thereof to which the bow string is attached. The invention includes embodiments in which the recurve levers are rigid, and embodiments in which the recurve levers are resilient working members.
Abstract: Methods and devices for energy conservation to be retrofitted to refrigerated chambers or boxes of the type comprising an insulated chamber and an associated compression-type refrigeration system. The energy conservation devices disclosed are adapted to be mounted within the refrigerated chamber, on or within the evaporator, and connected to the thermostatic switch and the evaporator fans located within the refrigerated chamber.
Abstract: Four embodiments are disclosed of a garment-hanger clip having a central portion adapted to be received with a garment to be hung and manually bendable wing portions adapted to be manually bent into close confrontation with the opposite sides of the central portion in order to engage the garment with prongs raised on said central portion and to maintain the garment in engagement with those prongs.
Abstract: A high voltage load interrupter including an oil switch and a vacuum switch, an oil switch operating handle for manual operation of the oil switch, and a vacuum switch operating handle for manual operation of the vacuum switch, in which the oil switch operating handle and the vacuum switch operating handle are so located with respect to each other that the oil switch operating handle cannot be moved to its "switch open" position unless the vacuum switch operating handle is in its "switch open" position and the vacuum switch operating handle cannot be moved to its "switch closed" position unless the oil switch operating handle is in its "switch closed" position.
Abstract: A flashlight holding mouthpiece which consists of a receptacle portion adapted to grippingly embrace the rear end of an associated miniature flashlight and an outwardly projecting flange portion, the entire mouthpiece, including the receptacle portion and the flange portion, being a unitary body of resilient material. In a first embodiment of the invention the flange portion is small enough to be received between the user's teeth and lips. In the second preferred embodiment the flange portion is large enough to project the user's lips from coming in contact with the metal barrel of the miniature flashlight.
Abstract: What is disclosed is a merchandise damping and protecting cover for the platforms of weighing scales. In some embodiments of my invention the scale platform cover includes a core comprised of one or more bodies of resilient foam material, contained in a rugged, tear-resistant envelope, and adhesive members for adhering the envelope to a platform of a weighing scale. In some embodiments of my invention the scale platform cover is provided with a shallow pocket in its upper face such that a rim is defined around the outer edge of the scale platform cover which prevents small items of merchandise from rolling off the scale platform cover.
