  • Patent number: 8184879
Abstract: In a method for magnetic resonance imaging, k-space is sampled using density weighted data acquisition or acquisition weighted data acquisition, with at least one region of k-space being intentionally undersampled with respect to the Nyquist criterion. Reconstruction of the MR image is performed using a parallel imaging method, with the influence in the reconstructed image of the missing k-space data, as a result of the undersampling, being reduced.

  • Patent number: 8185187
Abstract: In the acquisition of magnetic resonance imaging or spectroscopic data, 2D PACE is employed to identify an acceptance or shimming window within which the magnetic resonance data are acquired, and to trigger the acquisition of the magnetic resonance data at the same position of the patient's diaphragm in each respiratory cycle. The patient is thereby allowed to freely breath during the data acquisition procedure, but the acquisition of the magnetic resonance data is always able to take place with the patient's diaphragm in the same physical position in each respiratory cycle.

  • Patent number: 8179552
Abstract: A mail terminal senses insertion of a document into the terminal, scans the document in response to the sensed document insertion, and transmits the scanned document electronically over a telephone network. A host server receives the document over the telephone network, determines the name of the addressee from the received document, looks up document delivery instructions stored in a memory in association with the name of the addressee, and delivers the document to the addressee according to the delivery instructions. • Patent number: 8180449
Abstract: An implantable medical device and a method for operating such a device to provide cardiac pacing to the heart of a patient for pacing hearts of patients suffering from periodical or intermittent atrio-ventricular blocks, for example, AV block or HIS block. A control circuit operates the device in a DDI-II mode, the DDI-II mode being an operation mode with an atrial inhibited pacing and a DDI-II mode ventricular pacing rate being lower than a predetermined base rate of a pulse circuit of the device, during periods with atrio-ventricular conduction conditions. If a block in atrio-ventricular conduction is detected and at least one first switching criterion is satisfied, the control circuit causes a switching circuit to switch from the DDI-II mode to the DDI mode and, if a block in atrio-ventricular conduction is detected and at least one second switching criterion is satisfied, the control circuit causes the switching circuit to switch from the DDI mode to the DDD mode.

  • Patent number: 8177835
Abstract: A method as a workflow for imaging for a heart valve implant procedure includes positioning the patient and an articulated imaging apparatus relative to one another, inducing rapid ventricular pacing in the patient, and imaging a region of the patient's heart to obtain image date for a three-dimensional image. The three-dimensional data is used to construct a three-dimensional image of the region of the patient's heart an the three-dimensional image is displayed for use in the implanting of the replacement heart valve. Optional steps may include obtaining a real time two-dimensional image of the patient's heart and superimposing the real time two-dimensional image with the constructed three dimensional image. The replacement valve is moved into position in the patient's heart during rapid ventricular pacing and breath hold using the superimposed two-dimensional and three-dimensional image information.

  • Patent number: 8180127
Abstract: In a method and system to prepare medical 2D or 3D data, in particular 2D or 3D image data acquired by means of computed tomography, a data set composed of medical 2D or 3D data is segmented with predeterminable first segmentation parameters, so a first data set with segmented data and a second data set with data complementary to the first data set are generated and stored. Predeterminable color or grey value tables (known as presets) are provided that respectively associate colors or grey values with individual data value ranges. Respective presets are automatically associated with the first data set and the second data set. At an output unit, at least one slice or volume image of the first and/or second data set is presented as a resulting image/resulting images in colors/grey scales according to the associated presets.

  • Patent number: 8165270
Abstract: In a method for the production of x-ray-optical gratings composed of a first material forming of periodically arranged grating webs and grating openings, a second material is applied by electroplating to fill the grid openings. The electroplating is continued until a cohesive layer of the second material with uniform height is created over the grating webs with this layer having a large absorption coefficient, the absorption properties of the grating structure of the grating are homogenized, so an improvement of the measurement signals that are generated with this grating is improved. Moreover, the mechanical stability of gratings produced in such a manner is improved.
