  • Patent number: 5295194
Abstract: A multi-driver, coaxially mounted loudspeaker array utilizing a high frequency bi-morph driving element (tweeter) that is preferably contained within the air-core of the voice coil former of a lower frequency loudspeaker (woofer). The outwardly extending conical edge of the high frequency device's diaphragm is annularly fixed by a compliance to the inner surface of the referenced voice coil former or to the woofer diaphragm which extends outwardly therefrom. Alternately, the bi-morph element is attached to other dynamic parts of the woofer such as the dust cap or at the rim of, or otherwise on, an extension of the former. In this mode, the bi-morph element may first be mounted to a section of a cylinder or cone which acts as a frame of the same circumference or more/less than that of the coil former. Thereafter, the frame is mounted to the end of, over or inside the coil former, or any moving part of the woofer.

  • Patent number: 5287726
Abstract: Method and apparatus for preparing stators of a fluid cooled generator for ground (megger) and other tests. The method of automatically cycling into stator cooling coils gradually incremented pressures of super-desiccated air followed by subsequent rapid blowdown literally urges pockets of moisture out of the coils, freeing them by staccotic erosion or deterioration, as droplets and vapor. The process is carried out through the use of a palletized vacuum subsystem and conditioned air treatment/pressurization subsystem which includes a panel containing relay control logic for semi-automatic/automatic conduct of the testing protocol and including essentially relay logic, an air compressor with necessary valving, air filtration and drying apparatus, a receiver which affords storage of the treated, dried air and a sequencing valve with adjunct equipment for connection of the receiver output to the stator-under-test.

  • Patent number: 5276932
Abstract: Improvements to a manually operated, rotary bristle toothbrush. A thumb actuated mechanism is slidably and longitudinally mounted in an essentially hollow, elongate handle and a part of the mechanism, a rack, is caused to engage at least one compound pinion/spur gear in order to convert longitudinally reciprocative motion to rotary motion that is shunted toward the head of the toothbrush. The head contains therein one or more rotary bristles that project orthogonally from the head of the toothbrush and off the major longitudinal axis of the device. Rotary motion is conducted by a drive shaft into the head of the brush and transferred via a crown gear to bases of the brush(es) by interface between the crown gear of the drive shaft and at least one brush base comprising a capstan device adapted for rotation.

  • Patent number: 5276554
Abstract: A thumb actuated system for adjusting the magnification of a variable power (zoom) scope mounted on a rifle without removing the rifle from the shooting position. The magnification adjustment system, which is removably securable to the ocular end of the scope housing proximate the rotatably adjustable zoom lens arrangement, includes a multipositional lever assembly which may be easily manipulated by the thumb of a shooter's trigger hand while in the shooting position, a gearing system for producing a rotational force in response to the thumb actuated movement of the multipositional lever assembly and a belt system for applying the rotational force provided by the gearing system to the rotatably adjustable zoom lens arrangement, thereby adjusting the magnification of the variable power scope.

  • Patent number: 5271645
Abstract: Commercially available pigments mixed with fluorescence compound to obtain print stuff mixtures for transfer thereafter to mattes. The print stuff mixtures obtainable thereby are used to print securitY and face-value documents which will be color copier resistant, that is, not be accurately reproducible or replicable by a photocopier. An empirical test is provided which will allow the ordinary skilled printer to determine the best titer of commercially available fluorescence to be used in the ink/pigment mixing scheme.

  • Patent number: 5265525
Abstract: The invention is an automatic breader/sifter unit used to facilitate the application of a breading material to a food product. The unit includes a rotatable, horizontally-oriented drum that has an octagonal shape. The sidewalls of the drum include a large number of apertures so that when breading material is within the drum, the material contacts the drum and is sifted as the drum rotates. The drum is motor-driven and is at least partially surrounded by an exterior housing. The housing prevents the sifted breading material from escaping from the unit.

  • Patent number: 5260099
Abstract: A stainless steel gas turbine engine compressor blade is protected against corrosion by providing a thin sacrificial coating in the form of a coherent aluminum body in electrically-conducting contact with the blade surface, then overcoating the aluminum coat with a phosphate-chromate mixture in organic vehicle and drying and heating to cure and repeating the overcoating step several times to harden and densify the resulting ceramic body.

  • Patent number: 5260349
Abstract: Deep section epoxy compositions are cured by irradiation with e-beam, x-ray,or .gamma.-ray radiation. Use of photoinitiators having metal halide anions makes monomers and oligomers especially susceptible of this invention's deep section curing technology.

  • Patent number: 5257890
Abstract: Apparatus (10) for engaging, raising and rotating tanks/cylinders (48) which store or otherwise contain liquids or gases under pressure. The apparatus consists, basically, in a cradle (30) which is rotationally mounted on a single elevator housing (22). When the tank/cylinder is elevated, the cradle is either simultaneously or subsequently rotated in a plane orthogonal to the front-back axis of the apparatus base assembly (12). Torque and stresses placed on this apparatus are minimized and, in the interest of safety, the tanks/cylinders are rotated and maintained close (in) to the main vertical support at an elevation above the firmament which is the optimum consistent with the operation being performed safely.

  • Patent number: 5256024
Abstract: A pair of tiltable, flatbed sport vehicle transport trailers coupled in side-by-side arrangement. The invention is a modification which employs a common drawage hitch, for coupling thereto a pair of trailer drawbars, an axle extender for coupling the hubs of the side-by-side arranged trailers to form a common axle and an optional modification of each trailer drawbar fixing mounts that allows the drawbars of the individual trailers to be canted, that is obliquely postured so that the centerlines of the drawbars will then converge at a common point, to which is proximately fixed the common drawage hitch. Thereafter, a towing vehicle will be coupled to the common drawage hitch and the side-by-side pair of trailers drawn as a single unit.

  • Patent number: 5249765
Abstract: The invention is a two-part picture hanging system in which one part is attached to the picture frame and the other part is secured to a vertical wall. The part that is attached to the picture includes a recess designed to inwardly receive a portion of the wall-mounted part of the system. In one embodiment of the invention, the part that is attached to the picture includes a shaped portion that is designed to fit within a complementary-shaped channel in the frame. Once in place, the part can be moved to any desired position along the channel and then locked in place. An embodiment of the wall-secured part of the system is taught in which the part is a standard cap screw having a hexagonally-shaped head. The complementary picture-secured part of the system includes a recess having flat sides and is designed to inwardly receive the cap of the screw with the flat sides of the recess securely contacting two flat sides of the cap.

  • Patent number: 5240316
Abstract: A display cabinet which refrigerates containers of flowers by forcing a flow of cold air into holes in the bottom of each container and up through the flowers stored therein. The containers of flowers are inserted into a plurality of openings in a product support stand which rests on top of a refrigerated area. The openings which do not have containers of flowers inserted therein are biased to a closed position. The flow of cold air is adjusted according to the number of containers inserted into the product support stand.

  • Patent number: 5238046
Abstract: Bimetal casting of wearing parts including a cast retaining part enclosing a plurality of inserts. The method consists in casting an insert in a first mould, disposing the insert thus cast in a second mould and in casting the part in this second mould around the insert in such a way as to form a mechanical bonding between the two castings. The wearing part thus cast advantageously comprises an insert having a high resistance to wear while the rest of the part is made of a more ductile material which is resistent to mechanical stresses. The primary application is in the realization of crushing wheels, termed ferrules, and crusher hammers.
