  • Patent number: 7991741
Abstract: A system and associated method for synchronizing a record with a web document. A synchronizer selects a web document that is stored in a published web document repository of a content management system. The oldest web document since the latest update is selected and checked for availability. The synchronizer locates a record that corresponds to the selected web document. The synchronizer then checks respective version of the web document and the record to determine whether the record correctly represents the web document. The synchronizer then verifies whether the selected web document is available to users to avoid synchronizing latent web document that is not available to users. The synchronizer updates the located record.

  • Patent number: 7987446
Abstract: A method for automating variables in an end-user programming system is disclosed. The end-user programming system comprises a script, a shared repository, at least one database, a recorder, an interpreter, and an execution engine. The script comprises at least one command describing an event comprising a data value. Each user has a uniquely identified entry set for the entries distributed in at least one database. The interpreter automatically creates a variable for a data value in a command by comparing the data value with each entry value in the entry set for the user recording the command. The interpreter automatically instantiates a variable in a command with an entry value by comparing the variable with each entry name in the entry set for the user executing the command.

  • Patent number: 7987178
Abstract: A method and system for automatically determining optimization frequencies of queries having one or more parameter markers. Execution plans for a query are generated and each plan is associated with one or more bind value sets. An optimization frequency is selected based on differences between pairs of execution costs where one execution cost of a pair is a cost of executing the query with a bind value set via a first execution plan and the other execution cost of the pair is a cost of optimally executing the query with the bind value set via a second execution plan. The differences are based on maximum selectivity or cardinality distances associated with the bind value sets. If none of the differences exceeds a predefined value, the query is optimized once. If at least one of the differences exceeds the predefined value, the query is reoptimized each time the query is executed.

  • Patent number: 7986776
Abstract: In the method of the present invention, a customer of a service provider would be placed in hold while waiting to speak to a customer service representative. The method and system of the invention would recognize the telephone number of the caller using a “caller ID” system. If this call is the first time the caller has ever called, the caller would be presented with an audible listing of listening choices that would include but not be limited to the latest news, the weather (of the caller's location), financial headlines, or a selection of music stations (via cable radio, for example). The caller would then speak or type his/her preference into the keypad and the selection would be played. If the caller does not like the selection, the caller can then speak another selection or type the new selection as many times as the caller prefers. The caller selection is recorded in a caller preference database.

  • Patent number: 7986421
Abstract: A user connected to a remote printer can choose to activate a print-monitoring feature of the printer as part of the submitted print job. As the job begins to print, the output of the printer is monitored for print quality. If an event occurs during the print job that affects the print job, the user receives real-time notification of the status of the print job. The events can be printer related such as paper jam or print job related such as poor print quality. The user can have an option of reviewing various parts of the print job during the printing process. There can also be an automatic print job out evaluation. If the user accepts the print quality, the printer will continue printing the job. If the user is not satisfied with the print quality, the job is halted and sent to a temporary print buffer. While the job is halted, adjustments are made to either the printer to improve print quality or to the print parameters of the print job to improve print quality.

  • Patent number: 7983163
Abstract: A method for implementing adaptive load sharing to balance network traffic. The method begins by identifying all paths in a network between a first provider edge and a second provider edge. Next determining jitter, packet delay, and packet loss for each identified path in the network. Then utilizing the jitter, packet delay, and packet loss values, calculating a usage value for each path in the network. The usage value corresponds to the percentage of all network traffic which a specific path in the network may manage. When data is received by the first provider edge, the provider edge selects the appropriate path for the data. The appropriate path being the path with the largest usage value which is currently not managing a percentage of the network traffic that is equal to its usage value.

  • Patent number: 7983701
Abstract: A method and system for processing a free format short message service (SMS) text message for alerting a mobile phone's user to significant information in the message received by the mobile phone from a sender. Program code stored in memory on the mobile phone executes the method on a processor. A theme, a rheme, at least one structural component, and a sentence type of the normalized message are generated from which a FEATURE FACTOR priority is determined. Semantic content of the normalized message is determined from which an EMOTIONAL FACTOR priority is determined. A TOTAL PRIORITY computed as a sum of the FEATURE FACTOR priority and the EMOTIONAL FACTOR priority is determined to exceed a predetermined threshold, from which it is determined that the received message is significant, which triggers overriding default handset settings of the mobile phone and alerting the user that the received message is significant.
