Patent number: 4227300Abstract: A method for electrically bonding tantalum thin film capacitor networks to other networks is described. A first non-conducting support member has a thin film tantalum capacitor mounted thereon. A second non-conducting support member has another component such as a resistor mounted thereon. The two non-conducting support members are placed in a back-to-back position so that the thin film tantalum capacitor and the other component are remote from each other. These two non-conducting support members are then bound together and dipped into a molten solder bath to form a solder coating on the metal elements of the completed network.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1978Date of Patent: October 14, 1980Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Wilfried Anders, Werner Piepenburg

Patent number: 4226122Abstract: A three-dimensional ultrasonic scanning apparatus produces projection pictures on the surface of an object under inspection or examination and on planes perpendicular thereto. The amplitudes of the echo pulses produced by the ultrasonic scanning appartus, which uses an angle probe, are stored in a memory having at least one storage position relating to each projection of a reflecting point within the examined area. Only the highest echo amplitude originating from all the reflecting points lying on a projection line at right angles to the projection plane in question is recorded--not the highest amplitude from each reflecting point on the projection line. Thus, only those echo pulse amplitudes necessary to produce a projection picture of the object are stored in the memory thereby substantially reducing the required memory capacity.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1978Date of Patent: October 7, 1980Assignee: Akademiet for de Tekniske Videnskaber, SvejsecentralenInventors: Svend A. Patent number: 4225995Abstract: A rotating brush assembly for a vehicle washing apparatus is disclosed in which the brush assembly, which includes a brush, a brush shaft supporting the brush, a brush motor for driving the brush shaft and a flexible elastic coupling, is permitted to swing or tilt in response to the force exerted on the brush by the movement of the vehicle relative to the vehicle washing apparatus. The flexing of the flexible elastic coupling, which couples the brush shaft to the support arm, permits the brush to tilt or swing in any direction. For example, when the brush assembly engages the front of a vehicle, the flexible elastic coupling permits the brush to tilt as it passes along the front end of the vehicle. The brush motor rotates the brush in a direction which causes the brush to walk along the front of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1978Date of Patent: October 7, 1980Assignee: N/S Car Wash Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: George T. Ennis

Patent number: 4222083Abstract: The apparatus is adapted to simultaneously treating a pair of magnetic tape cassettes. The apparatus comprises two pairs of hubs, which cooperate with the reels of the magnetic tapes, and which can rotate in both directions at a substantially constant angular speed under the control of a single electric motor. A pair of magnetic heads are employed for writing and/or reading binary information on the two tapes. The data read by the heads are regarded as information only if they exceed a predetermined threshold value defined by a voltage generator. A control circuit, comprising a variable gain amplifier, maintains the ratio between the peak of the data detected and the value of the threshold substantially constant, taking into account the variations of the linear speed of the tapes.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1978Date of Patent: September 9, 1980Assignee: Ing.
