  • Patent number: 8296748
Abstract: A method to provide effective control and data flow information in an Intermediate Representation (IR) form. A Path Sensitive single Assignment (PSA) IR form with effective and explicit control and data path information supports control flow sensitive optimizations such as path sensitive symbolic substitution, array privatization and speculative multi threading. In the definition of PSA form, besides defining new versioned variables, the gamma functions keep control path information. The gamma function in PSA form keeps the basic attribute of SSA IR form and only one definition exists for each use. Therefore, all existing Single Static Assignment (SSA) IR form based analysis can be applied in PSA form. The gamma function in PSA form keeps all essential control flow information and eliminates unnecessary predicates at the same time.

  • Patent number: 8296553
Abstract: A method and system to perform a fast reset or restart of a platform by minimizing the hardware initialization of IO devices in the platform during a restart of the platform. The basic input/output system (BIOS) of the platform traps any software initiated reset request (SIRR) or warm reset. The BIOS restores the input/output (IO) devices coupled with the platform to their previous hardware state to avoid the full platform initialization when the SIRR is trapped. The restart of the platform can be performed in a fast manner as the full platform initialization is minimized.

  • Patent number: 8294330
Abstract: A surface acoustic wave device with improved temperature characteristics includes a piezoelectric substrate of a single crystal of symmetry 3m, providing propagation of a SAW having an electromechanical coupling factor exceeding 5%, an electrode pattern on a substrate surface forming a resonator, and a SiOx overlay covering the electrode pattern. An optimized thickness of the electrodes combined with an SiOx overlay provide improved performance in RF applications with improved temperature characteristics. To suppress spurious responses the SiOx thickness is varied depending upon the relative thickness and period of the electrodes. The electrode pattern forms resonators with the silicon oxide thickness over the electrodes inversely related to the period of the electrodes of the resonators.

  • Patent number: 8295335
Abstract: Techniques are described that provide uplink power control techniques that can support different uplink multi-input multi-output (MIMO) transmission schemes. A mobile station determines a Signal to Interference-plus-Noise Ratio based on base and offset values transmitted from a base station. The base station can transmit the base and offset values using seven bits total. The mobile station determines an uplink transmitter power level based on the Signal to Interference-plus-Noise Ratio.

  • Patent number: 8290034
Abstract: Methods, medium, and handheld, wireless devices which compress, enhance, encode, transmit, decompress and display digital video images in real time. Real time wireless videoconferences connect multiple handheld video devices. Real time compression is achieved by sub-sampling each frame of a video signal, filtering the pixel values, and encoding. Real time transmission is achieved due to high levels of effective compression. Real time decompression is achieved by decoding and decompressing the encoded data to display high quality images. A receiver can alter various setting including but not limited to the format for the compression, image size, frame rate, brightness and contrast. A zoom control can be used select a portion of interest of video being transmitted or being played back.

  • Patent number: 8285400
Abstract: There is provided a digital controller which can reduce a variation in output voltage as compared to the conventional digital controller at the time of abrupt changes in load and in input of a power amplifier. The digital controller is built in the power amplifier for supplying an output voltage vo to a load and is equipped with a manipulated variable calculating unit which detects the output voltage vo to calculate a manipulated variable ?1 and a signal generating unit which converts the manipulated variable ?1 into a signal for making the power amplifier operate. A feedforward function from an equivalent disturbance qy caused by the variation in the load is replaced by a feedback function from the output voltage vo and the manipulated variable ?1, thereby allowing a transfer characteristic from the disturbance qy to the output voltage vo to result in a quadratic differential characteristic.

  • Patent number: 8281297
Abstract: A method of producing a reconfigurable circuit device for running a computer program of moderate complexity such as multimedia processing. Code for the application is compiled into Control Flow Graphs representing distinct parts of the application to be run. From those Control Flow Graphs are extracted basic blocks. The basic blocks are converted to Data Flow Graphs by a compiler utility. From two or more Data Flow Graphs, a largest common subgraph is determined. The largest common subgraph is ASAP scheduled and substituted back into the Data Flow Graphs which also have been scheduled. The separate Data Flow Graphs containing the scheduled largest common subgraph are converted to data paths that are then combined to form code for operating the application. The largest common subgraph is effected in hardware that is shared among the parts of the application from which the Data Flow Graphs were developed.

  • Patent number: 8281116
Abstract: A method for accessing a protected area of a solid-state storage device via firmware control is described. During system initialization, firmware components are loaded and executed to initialize a computer system. These firmware components include a firmware driver for accessing solid-state storage devices connected to the computer system. The system firmware enables a protected area on a solid-state storage device's media to be accessed under firmware control. After firmware accesses, the protected area is closed from access by non-firmware entities by “hiding” the true size of the media such that those entities are unaware of this area of the media. Mechanisms are disclosed for providing firmware access to the protected area only during pre-boot, and for both pre-boot and run-time operations. The firmware-controlled media access scheme may be used to load firmware stored on solid-state media during pre-boot and to store system information in the protected area during pre-boot and/or run-time operations.

  • Patent number: RE43757
Abstract: A mechanical scanning stage for high speed image acquisition in a focused beam system. The mechanical scanning stage preferably is a combination of four stages. A first stage provides linear motion. A second stage, above the first stage, provides rotational positioning. A third stage above the rotational stage is moveable in a first linear direction, and the fourth stage above the third stage is positionable in a second linear direction orthogonal to the first direction. The four stages are responsive to input from a controller programmed with a polar coordinate pixel addressing method, for positioning a specimen mounted on the mechanical stage to allow an applied static focus beam to irradiate selected areas of interest, thereby imaged by collecting signals from the specimen using a polar coordinate pixel addressing method.
