Abstract: Example implementations disclosed herein relate to selection of a subset of items included in a feed of information that are perceived to be of interest to a particular user. In some implementations, a feed of information that includes a number of posted items is accessed. In addition, in some implementations, a subset of items perceived to be of interest to a particular user is selected from the feed of information based on a predicted value of each item to the particular user and to a plurality of users of an application used to access the items.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to a machine-readable storage medium encoded with instructions executable by a processor of a computing device including a display device. The machine-readable storage medium may include instructions that access a stored indication upon boot-up of the computing device using a Basic Input Output System (BIOS). In addition, the machine-readable storage medium may include instructions that determine, using the stored indication, whether an operating system (OS) of the computing device exited properly, and instructions that display a BIOS productivity display using the display device when it is determined that the computing device exited properly. Still further, the machine-readable storage medium may include instructions that permit the OS to display a recovery display when it is determined that the OS did not exit properly.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to identification of management information base (MIB) object identifiers (OIDs) supported by a managed device. In example embodiments, a group of MIB OIDs to be tested for support by a managed device is identified. A series of requests including a MIB OID may then be transmitted to the managed device. Finally, MIB OIDs from the group of MIB OIDs to be tested for support that are supported by the managed device may be identified based on responses to the requests received from the managed device.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to pointing devices, methods, and machine-readable storage media. In example embodiments disclosed herein, a pointing device may include a display screen. Example embodiments may receive an image from a computing device that includes a pointer and an area of a currently-displayed interface surrounding the pointer. Example embodiments may then output the received image on the display screen of the pointing device.

Abstract: Example implementations relate to revenue generation based on introduction of revenue-generating features or inconvenience. In some implementations, the logarithmic convexity of a probability function is determined. The probability function may describe a probability that a user will continue to utilize the service based on a level of inconvenience or number of revenue-generating features introduced to the service. In some implementations, a number of periods for introducing the inconvenience or revenue-generating features may then be determined based on the log convexity of the probability function.
