The device defines an internal cavity that is configured to receive a portion of a cable-like computer lock when the device is in the closed condition. The device is further configured to extend the computer lock away from the housing of the portable computer. The device prevents the computer lock from obstructing access to surface features on the computer proximate to the security slot.

Two astable multivibrator circuits (AMCs), each including a negative differential resistance device, are coupled in series-circuit relationship. The circuitry exhibits oscillations in electrical current when subjected to a voltage equal to or greater than a threshold value. Various oscillating waveforms can be produced in accordance with voltages applied to the circuitry.

The pattern of clear fluid is defined by a maximum width that is generally equal to the maximum width of the image to be formed. One or more colored inks are applied such that the image is formed and is supported by the paper media. The paper media exhibits reduced cockle as a result of the pattern of clear fluid.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for solder bonding entities to solid materials. One or more through apertures are formed in a solid material. Solder paste is introduced into each through aperture. Respective entities having solderable surface features are disposed in overlying alignment with the through apertures. The arrangement is heated causing molten solder paste to wet the solderable surface features and the solid material. Cooling results in the electrical and mechanical bonding of the entities to the solid material. Devices having substantially planar form factors and without lead wires can be electrically and mechanically secured to a supporting conductive stratum.

    Abstract: Methods and means for wiping a page-wide print array are provided. An installable and removable cartridge includes a quantity of web material. The web material traverses a serpentine pathway and is driven by a motor such that fresh web material can be provided to a cleaning zone. The web material within the cleaning zone is wiped across the ink discharge surface of an array of printing dies to remove debris. Wiping action is performed perpendicular to a lengthwise aspect of the page-wide print array. Various embodiments of compact and effective cleaning mechanisms are thus provided in modular, replaceable forms.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided directed to signal cabling. An illustrative cable includes first and second connectors. Each connector includes a plurality of electrical contacts supported by an insulator material. A plurality of distinct signaling conductors couples respective pairs of the electrical contacts. Each connector also includes a metallic shell continuously spanning an outer dimensional aspect of the connector. A flexible metallic shield is electrically bonded to the respective metallic shells and envelopes the signaling conductors, spanning a length-wise aspect of the cable. The signal propagation qualities of the cable are applicable to high-resolution video and other endeavors.
