    Abstract: Methods are provided for improving inversion layer mobility and providing low defect density in a semiconductor device based upon a silicon carbide (SiC) substrate. More specifically, embodiments of the present method provide for the formation of a gate oxide on a silicon carbide substrate comprising oxidizing the substrate with a gaseous mixture comprising oxygen at a temperature of at least about 1300° C. Semiconductor devices, such as MOSFETS, based upon a substrate treated according to the present method are expected to have inversion layer mobilities of at least about 12 cm2/Vs.

    Abstract: A cooling system for reducing the thermal energy transfer from the heated spots of an RF coil assembly to a patient bore of an MRI system is disclosed. The MRI system includes a plurality of gradient coils positioned about a bore of a magnet, an RF shield formed about an RF space, and an RF coil assembly positioned within the RF space and about the patient bore. The cooling system is positioned within the RF space and includes a plurality of cooling modules configured to reduce an operating temperature of the MRI system. Each of the plurality of cooling modules further includes a thermoelectric cooler thermally coupled to the RF coil and a heat sink thermally coupled to the thermoelectric cooler opposite from the RF coil. The thermoelectric cooler is configured to extract heat from the RF coil when a current is applied to the thermoelectric cooler.

In one embodiment a processing unit transforms the images to a gear tooth model so that the gear tooth image and contact pattern image matches the model gear tooth. Metrics are computed for the contact pattern, and based on threshold values, a determination is made as to whether the gearbox is acceptable.

The computer is further programmed to determine a location of a central region of a left ventricle of a heart, where the location is based on the organ data and a priori information. The computer is also programmed to determine a short axis of the left ventricle based on the determined location, acquire a first set of post-initialization imaging data from the free-breathing subject from an imaging plane orientation based on the determination of the short axis, and reconstruct at least one image from the first set of post-initialization imaging data.

The anatomical information is obtained from an atlas of the brain prepared from an MR image of the brain. The atlas contains image data that is referenced to the Talairach coordinate system. The atlas is aligned to the CT image and the coordinate system of the CT image data is transformed to the Talairach coordinate system. The alignment of the CT image and the atlas is performed using anatomical landmarks that are visible on both the CT image and the atlas. The CT image is then labeled automatically with the anatomical information in the atlas.
